thanks guys.

I figured it'd be much better to get cars here, then sell them after.

I dont plan on staying here forever, after all.

I suppose it's no different for furniture.. I hear things go missing at the customs all the time.

You cannot bring a car that is more than 5 years old. As for shipping costs, get quotes from companies in Canada - they will depend on the point of departure.

You will also pay duty I believe it is a certain % based on the value of the vehicle.

Not worth it IMHO.

Hello...I am a fellow Canadian moving to Qatar in the next month or so. Perhaps we could compare notes/checklists? Let me know and congrats!

Its better to buy a Car from here rather then Shipping your Family Cars from Canada...

Calculate the Shipping Costs, & then the Custom Hassles out here in Qatar, If you don't have Wasta, then its not worth it...

Rest depends on You!

Don't quote me on this but IMO-If its only one (Personal car) I guess its OK bit since you said " couple of family cars"- I guess its a hassle to manage?

If the cars are new, no problem. If they are older than five years you will need 'Wasta'.
