International Dialing Code from Qatar Changed Today
Q-Tel has changed the international access code from "0" to "00". This means that if you are dialing from Qatar to another country you will need to prefix that country code with "00" or just "+" if you are using a mobile. According to Q-Tel,
Customers using mobile services with memories already programmed with '+' will not need to change the programming on their contacts list but if they have used a single zero they will need to change to either '+' or '00'. All other pre-programmed equipment such as fax machines and computers that have a single '0' stored in memories will also need to be updated. The migration to the new access code will be implemented at 2.00am on the morning of 21 May to minimize possible inconvenience to customers.
Mobile customers should have received an SMS with this announcement.
Note: this has nothing to do with dialing to Qatar - the Qatar country code remains "974"
Strange! I've been calling and texting my friends in Saudi, Philippines and in US before they change the code today. I use + or 00 even before! so what's the difference? Odd!
