LCD Plasma TV prices
Hi,
Could someone please tell me the price range for 46" and 52" LCD 1080p full HD TVs in Doha, and where to buy? The brands I'm considering are Sony/Samsung/LG/Sharp. I need to figure out if I should try to buy a 220v TV online from US or just buy in Qatar, if the price difference is not that much. I will be coming around end of Sep.
If LCDs are much more expensive I can also consider Plasma.
Thanks much...
I was Shopping around for a 50 inch TV, the best deal I got was from the LG Shop direct, I paid QR4500 for a 50 inch Plasma including installation, top of the range, although you can get it cheaper as well. Personally I dont think its worth bringing a TV from US.
Hope the info helps.
I'm actually thinking about it. . .need to send you a PM to coordinate. I wonder if my new car will fit in your shipment. . .hmmmmm!
Sueno.. you are absolutely right :) and like I said, I dont mind bringing anything if I can. Please check my other post where you have helped me tremendously (http://www.qatarliving.com/node/647690). I'm updating with what I found out about kitchen appliances over there, as I dont want to mix threads..
Si, Midfielder 4. La verdad siempre es la mejor. :)
We purchased our Sony back in April of 2008 and they've definitely coming down in price.
With all the money I'm saving you, you'll be able to mule heaps of stuff for me :p (kidding!)
uzee, also be aware that not only the voltage is different here than the States but the frequency is also different. Here it is 50Hz and not 60 Hz as in the States, so be carefull what electrical appliances you bring with you.
Perfect... Thanks to all, now I can sell my TV here in peace.
Sueno, ~3000QR for a 46" Sony is actually even cheaper than US, I bought mine which is also a 46" Sony and paid $1060 about 4-5 months ago, which is roughly 3900QR.
Sueno, verdad.

CC is probably City Center, which is one of the malls. Carrefour (grocery store) sells TVs in City Center, as does an electronics store whose name I cannot recall.
We purchased our 46" Sony for which we paid ~3,000QR. The prices have gone down since then, too. I would definitely purchase one here - that way you're covered by the warranty if you have any issues with it.
Uzee you will pay a ton in shipping and no guarantee something like a TV will survive it. Yeah you'll pay more for the device but I would not ship any valuable electronics over here (relo from Chicago).
PS CC is "City Center" one of the larger malls.
Also look at the stuff for sale here on QL you may be able to find stuff second hand.
Best of luck to you!

Thanks every_mothers_nightmare, really appreciate it, btw whats CC ? is that a store?
yv2r, I completely agree with you, its not worth the hassle, the only reason I asked the question was because I was under the impression that TV prices in Qatar are double or more from US. Thats why I thought if its such a big difference I will see if I can bring one with me. That obviously doesnt seem to be the case.
Thanks everyone and please post any more prices if you have.
When u can get every thing here why u want to carry from there, unless u have an old one with u with sentiments, otherwise u avoid lot of hassels and tension untill u see in same condition and if it works when u reach here, instead u can go around n find good one
samsung 50" QR3900..........at CC
Aana free, jaana free,
Pakde gaye tho khana free.
Thanks maxmo :) If I was in Doha and coming to the US, I would certainly do that. But I'm asking here because we're about to move and are still in the US, so unfortunately I can't go to these places. All I'm asking is if someone has recently bought a TV or shopping for one, they would probably know the price range.
Thanks

Give a visit to CareFour in CityCenter, Jumbo/National in SofiTel, LuLu Hyper near Airport. Note down the prices of all the model you like and compare it for yourself.
