I haven't seen my luggage since I got on a plane in New York City Thursday morning. I filed a report at the airport, and the folks seemed helpful, but there's still no sign of my luggage. Any advice? When others have lost their luggage, how long has it taken to get it back? (If you got it back.)
My sympathies. I had a similar experience in the summer. Lufthansa lost my bag at Heathrow. Two weeks later (after my calling them everyday) they found it and sent it to Doha. I called Qatar Airways for a week. No, they said we do not have it (you have to call 100 times for very time they answer the phone). I called Lufthansa, they were not interested as they said they had sent it to Doha.
In frustration I searched the website and called the aviation manager at Qatar Airways baggage service. His secretary (filipana thank God) then gave me the cell phone number of someone who worked in the baggage department. I called him and he said it was there and that I could come and get it. I went to the airport into the baggage room and there it was. It had a huge label on it that said "urgent call Richard .... on ..". The bag had been there for a week and no one had called me.
My advice to you is to call the airline a lot and make their lives miserable enough for them to really get you off their backs by finding your luggage.

I had an experience with Air France (I HATE THAT AIRLINE WITH A PASSION).
Lost baggage on my trip to Tokyo.
Made me go to offices and waste my time there. After filling out forms I received a letter 1 month later saying "Sorry, we can't do anything without your flight coupon".
I called and said YOU TOOK IT! How could I have been on the flight if I didn't have the coupon?
i had few books and clothes and cell phone charger. later they asked me to show them invoice for each material i bought so they can be sure of each item price and pay me back.
i never got mine back and after paying visit several times they got tired of me. so i gave up. they will give you a form if ur bag is never found to fill it explaining ur flight number name destination and items in the bag later they will pay you either 100Dollar or nothing.

IATA rules are they not supposed to pay more than $100?
We had our son's bag "displaced" by KLM and I seem to recollect he got $200.
