Mazda 3 or Honda Civic 2008?

Hi guys, I am new in Qatar and I really love Honda Civic and also seem to like the Mazda 3. Mazda 3 has a better engine, so I guess it has better acceleration and power. I am a bit confused. Some one told me that if you Mazda 3, you will be stuck as no 1 will buy it from you. Is that true?

And also, please let me know if Honda Civic has a good resale? I plan to keep the car for atleast 3 years. Also, is there any other car in this price range which I should consider. I hate Corolla by the way.

Also, can anyone who really knows can tell if both these cars are Japan Assembled? Because I will buy a car which is Japan assembled, dont trust anything else. German is better, but they are very expensive.

Thanks in advance.

charan no man...

I rode a Mazda3 (2006 model, manual)....Its a very good car ...and would look

excellent if it has black leather seats. Mazda 3 has a kinda sporty look. It has

very good suspension, handling, smooth etc....etc.The one I rode in was a rent a car one and could be the most basic.

And Now  I drive a Civic 2007 model. (The new look one). Civic even has

broader tyres and the alloy wheel.

Honda Civic

1,799 cc 1.8 liters in-line 4 front engine with 81.0 mm bore, 87.3 mm stroke, 10.5 compression ratio, overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder

Power: 104 kW , 140 HP SAE @ 6,300 rpm; 128 ft lb , 174 Nm @ 4,300 rpm

Mazda 3

1,999 cc 2 liters in-line 4 front engine with 87.5 mm bore, 83.1 mm stroke, 10 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder LFD

Power: 110 kW , 148 HP SAE @ 6,500 rpm; 135 ft lb , 183 Nm @ 4,500 rpm

According to me Civic is better in just 1.8 ltr 87.3 mm stroke and 10.5 compression speed and 174 Nm @ 4300 rpm only...

Mazda3

The Mazda3 (2006 Model)I rode in was a key-full one and not a keyless one.

So each time we used to get down the guy driveing had to check if all the

doors were closed properly!

Not only this the Windows were Wind-it-up & wind-it-down one. And I dont

think in 2007 model they have been generous to add keyless entry & central

locking as bonus.

By anonymous• 4 May 2008 17:58
anonymous

irrysa ...charan...Mazda:

Central Locking, ABS brakes are there in Civic all models. Central lock (I dontneed to emphasise the convenience of it) is standard in all models

of Honda.

Charan are you sure you are talking about Mazda3 and not about Mazda6?

I have not driven a Mazda3  but rode in one 2006 Model the whole of last year and

compared to it Civic is better. Mazda is very good (and better in this regard than say Lancer)...but I definately feel Civic more powerful.

The cost is approx... And if Mazda a 1.6 Ltr car is priced higher than a 1.8 Ltr

Civic then why woud you go for 1.6Ltr.

Any comments about the SERVICE  . I dont think you can find any service

that says service free if more than 24hrs.

if u look around in doha u will see 20-30? civics per 1 mazda, i think this should explain the quality and especially the re-sale values of each car in qatar...

civic is very powerful, nice acceleration and it grabs the road very efficiently, you do not grasp the cruise speed. I cannot imagine any other car of civic's size being more powerful because civic's body and design is so unique and as said its front is very loww for better performance.

civic if u buy it from damasco gives life time warranty.

i haven't used mazda so no comments on that...

Honda is better than Mazda esp. here in Qatar

Adeel, if u like German cars, then go for the 2nd hand car instead of a new one.

I think that buying 2nd hand car is better anyway!

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.

jack, all the options u have mentioned are there in civic, but IF U BUY THE FULL OPTION.

I like Mazda, has good acceleration and i believe it's  lighter than civic.

both spare parts are expensive, but honda has better service and resell value.

Civic better than Mazda3

CIVIC

Engine 1.8 but has the power of 2.0

Safety Airbags - High - driver & passenger with curtain airbags for both

ABS brakes -good quality brakes

Keyless Entry,  power windows, power mirrors, central locking

Fuel consumption 6.7-6.9 Ltrs to travel 100Km

Cost QR65,000

Service - "Same day service Guaranteed or the service is free"

Mazda3

Engine 1.6...so who says good powrful engine?!?

Safety Airbags - only for  driver !!!

ABS Brakes are standard on only higher models !!!

Keyless Entry,  power mirrors, central locking ...all only in higher models...lol

Fuel consumption  7.2-8.0 Ltrs to travel 100Km

Cost :QR 60,000

Civic wins hands down. But Mazda3 is cheaper by QR 5,000 and is a little compact/smaller than Civic.

Mazda is good than Honda Civic because of many reason

but the parts of this car is really bad for us

but Honda civic's bumper is not so high

so,when you drive , it may struck with the road

i think Mitsubhitchi Lancer is good for you, as you don't like corolla!!

 how about nissan altima???

bye

Both cars are good but over all i'd prefer the CIVIC cause

HONDA         -         Good after sale's service

HONDA         -         Cheaper spare parts

HONDA         -         Good value for money

HONDA         -         Tuner's dream car

HONDA         -         A bit expensive lately

MAZDA         -          Good power

MAZDA         -          Bad after sales service

MAZDA         -          Spare's and servicing expensive

MAZDA         -          Resale value is quite less than Honda

The above mentioned are the advantages and disadvantages

of the cars... "HONDA BETTER PAY ME COMMISION FOR THIS"

PS : I HAVE OWNED BOTH A HONDA AND A MAZDA EARLIER THIS IS FROM MY PAST EXPERIENCE....

Never express yourself more clearly than you think.

Civic has a better resell value than Mazda3. I came to know from several sources that Mazda spare parts are bit expensive than Honda, Toyota

If I were you, I would have gone for Corolla for its attractive interior though I'm a Honda fan. Renault Megane is not bad though.
