medical help
I am thinking of moving to Qatar with my wife and family and would like know what the medical test consists of before you can get your residents permits. I know there is a blood test to check for TB, HIV and hep but what else is tested, especially via the blood test. Is there a urine sample taken also?
If somebody could help that would be great!
The truth is, we really don't know! It's not like they get a detailed informed consent form from each of us. We assume it it Hepatitis, HIV and an x-ray for TB.

Jim, thanks for the clarification.
Its good to know what you are letting yourself in for. There is a lot of conflicting info out there, some say it is a test for everything that you can think of including all std's and others just TB, HIV and Hep. There is also a lot of discussion about GAMCA tests in home countries which looks very detailed.
thanks again.
all test must be from your home country, by a diagonostic center or a apporoved medical practitioner or either in qatar
The test includes HIV, Hep B &C and Syphilis. In addition to the chest x-ray you will be required to go to a clinic to confirm your blood group. My employer insisted that I had all these done (except the blood group) before I came to Qatar. Of course, they all had the be repeated here!
test in your home country and if you wanna be sure, go to a clinic accredited by Qatar and any GCC country (if there's one in your country).
Thankyou both for you replies.
So you are not told what is being tested then from the blood sample? No issues with lung disease and no AIDS/HIV, would be nice to know what else they look for? How long does it take to get the results? I think it maybe an idea to come and have a pre-test for me and my wife before leaving our home for good.
thanks
X-ray is for obvious reason but for the blood sample, they don't specifically reveal what are tested. No other procedure are taken.
But if you have a history of any lung disease before, be inform that they are very particular about this one.
I did the medical test 2 weeks ago, as you said they are blood test and also Xray test. They are easy, but you have to manage to come early to the Test center in Abo Hamour! coz there are too many people want to do the test,
Hope you got the right information
Stay well
