Moving from Dubai to Doha

Hi everyone,

I'm moving to Doha next month and i have some questions:

- I'm married so it is the two of us moving (no kids), whats the best way to find an apartment for rent (1BR/2BR)? my budget is around 5K/month. I'm also thinking to pack my furniture and move it as its only 6 months old. what do you recommend guys?

- what about cars? i currently have a 2008 Mitsubishi but im planning to sell it as i heard Mitsubishi's are not popular in Qatar, i might go with Nissan or VW, but i want to know more about garages, parts and resale value.

i would appreciate any other information that might be useful as well.

I would ask your employer's HR dept about your wife. Depending on the company and your position, she may be able to come with you and the company looks after getting her residency taken care of.

Dubai license transferable to Qatar? Not that I know of, but I had both a UAE and a North American license and they used the latter to issue my Qatar DL as soon as I had my RP

1. Bringing car will be good option. If u dont want to wait for 2 months to buy new.

2. Once u get ur Qatar RV ( 1 month period) u can get license in 15 min.

3. Flats are highly expensive .. u can get 2bhk for 5k also it can be furnishes on may be not.

4. Be prepare your self bcoz Qatar is no were near to Dubai..

5. Bringing ur wife to qatar ll take 6 months , as per Qatar law u should have 6 month salary diposit in u banks. salary min 10k.. i hope u must be having this..

6. Temprature is around 50c.

7. only 2 big malls (thats waht people say , as they are very small) thts it , and nothing in qatar.

Best Luck

About car like misubishi, there is no issues on After sales service, QAC is the dealers for them, and import of car must be within 5 years so you are good to import your vehicle. Remember the price of cars is mush more expensive here than in UAE, so you may want to consider importing your vehicle here. Misubishi lancer, pajero are quite popular. Also bring your furnitures here, or from IKEA, as we do not have an IKEA here :( which is sad and furnitures sold by home center are sometimes over priced. there are agancies in Dubai who are expert in relocation.

Bring your furniture, your housing budget is not sufficient to get you a nicish place furnished and the furniture selection here is dire.

There is no problem with Mitsubishi - age might be a more important factor in order to import it into Qatar.- someone else will have to address that.
