Moving to Qatar?? Need answers!
My Question is this: My future wife and I are both Americans. She is currently living/working in Qatar with her company. We Plan to get married here in the States very soon and she wants me to come back and live with her there. I'm aware that I can go initially on a tourist visa, which from what I understand only lasts about 14 days or so, How do I obtain a residential visa to live there with her and what do i need to know? The more I read on the internet the more i become confused. I would really appreciate it if someone could spell it out for me. She mentioned being sponsored by her company. Do I need to apply for a residential visa before i go or can i get it there while im on my tourist visa and is any of this even possible?? again i would really appreciate it if someone could spell this out for me.
Thanks in advance!!! and i apologize for my ignorance.
i'm assuming that if you are both american, that you would meet the needs of the salary minimum for sponsorship. It is no problem to have the wife sponsor the husband. There are lots of men here who are under their wife's sponsorship, i was for several years. I would suggest that she ask her company the procedures necessary for her to sponsor you. My guess is that they don't need to give her permission to do so, but the procedures can be pretty cumbersome and time consuming.
we are presently in dubai(UAE). but now my husband has been transfered to Doha. we might also shift there by next month. I wanted to know which r good Indian schools there. My kids r still small,, my son is in gr-1 and daughter in KG-1. so plz suggest some good schools....
Thanx n regds....
Get in here on visa upon arrival, and GET a JOB! Unless your wife is one of the top seniors in her company, she unlikely will allowed by the Government to sponsor yourself. On the other hand, you plan to work here anyway, don't you? So get a job and get sponsored by your company. But my advice, start looking for a job NOW, while you are in US. You might get much better offer, than when you are in Qatar. And remember to negotiate the offer, no matter how good it looks.
firstly she needs to find out from her company if they will A) sponsor the husband as well or B) give a letter of no objection for her to sponsor you. Some companies will allow females to sponsor their husbands on their residential permit, while others may not and will only allow for "visitor visa". This visa is valid for 1 month but can be extended to a maximum of 6 months. The person then has to leave for 3 months and then the "sponsor" reapplies and the whole process is repeated. She will obviously have to change her marital status with her company prior to you coming over. Also, she has to have a minimum salary of QR7500. Good luck.
