my new flat has an old carpet, but underneath is a nice marble floor. if i have the old carpet removed, and have the floor polished, it might cost me just as much as having new carpets on. any advice based on experience here in Qatar?
Get rid of the carpet. You shall be enjoying summers for 10 out of 12 months. No need for carpet. Also, the carpet is the best home for germs and deseases. Any floor is better than the carpet.
Carpet will start smelling after some time, difficult to remove strains and so on....... But tiles easy to clean and will always smell frsh after cleaning

Polish the floor tiles. In the long run its more hygenic and good for health.
