PR & Driving License,international & Qatari

Hi everyone,

I am considering the work in Qatar soon, but generally there will be a probation period (3 Months) after that I’ll get my permit residence. Anyway, my question is:
If I am not having a permit residence yet, Can I drive using my international driving license in Qatar? And if not, can I apply to get a Qatari driving license during that?

I don’t know about the system there. So, what do you say…

Thanks Mandi,

your talk sounds reasonable and i think the same, since its the most convenient way to do that.

Hope that driving test is not that hard,lol..

thanks again

OK, from what I remember you can drive on your international driver's license until you get your RP then you must convert it to a Qatar license.

Bleu, Thanx

What I know is it possible to use it when you have business or tourist visa cos it has a limited period, but about the case here, don’t know.

Anyway, I guess maybe I'll wait till be in Doha to find out with the authorities or if someone else has something to say.

You can use it for some time, I'm not sure if 3 months is acceptable.

If you're on a business visa, and not an RP, I think you could keep using it.
