Just wondering, when an expat comes to Qatar, we are required to take the Qatar Driving License. What if I plan to go outside Qatar, to other UAE, is the Qatar license valid? Do i need to get International License as well. Help please.

Your Qatari driving license is valid for 14 days(some countries only 7 days) in any GCC countries, there after you have to get a temporary licence if you enter that country on a tourist/visit visa. Same is with IDL.You may need to insure your licence as well.

Yes, Qatar Driving License and an international license are both valid in the GCC area.If you wish to travel from Doha to Mecca you can use either one provided that your vehicle has complete documentations (ownership) that is another issue. You can also use either license to Rent-a-car just incase you need one.

This is what happen to me when I was in Dubai.

Hope this could be a help to you.

Cheers,

Manage to click the Driving (duhh), but nothing to answer my question. One thread says yes, another says no.

Which is correct?

1. I was wondering, can i get an international license when i'm in Qatar, or is it better i get in my own country?

2. Does GCC acknowledge the Qatar License as well the International License?

3. Lets say that i want to go vacation or Umrah, and plan to drive from Qatar to Medinah/ Mecca, is the Qatar license valid?
