Qtel Internet Problems
I have upgraded my ADSL to 4 MB, and of course it doesn't work...Qtel said it is ok for them and that I have to change the settings of my modem...of course they do not support other than theirs...
I have attached below a snapshot of my config page : this way it works 1MB as it always did.....Daniele said he did not have to do any change of settings when he upgraded his line...
Is there anything I can do ??
Thanks
Only fair to keep you posted about the developments : after I insisted to open a complain ticket with Qtel, the technician finally came this morning !
1) adsl filter needed to be changed ( on outlet side) as it was giving noise
2) Qtel had not configured the ADSL upgrade on their side, that was why I still had 1 MB until an hour ago !
3) Of course after resetting the Linksys router,my wifi settings, passwords, etc were all gone and the wifi was open, with ADSL connection, but not connected to the internet.....solution ?
I restored the previous Linksys configuration from a backup file I made when the internet was running ok in the past (I recommend everyone to do it), and guess what ? It works !!
4)it took me one month to have the 4MB upgrade working, and guess what ? I got charged by Qtel for the month of October just three days ago.....another fight is waiting for me, when I will go to Qtel office and tell them I am not going to pay for what I did not receive !
By the way, the technician was really great ( he isan employee of a Qtel's contractor of course :-)
Cheers
in your opinion.......
In my opinion, Qtel is the best telecom company in Qatar.
this is not the only problem with qtel,i will capitalised this word"THEY ARE THIEF BASTARD",imagine i have my broadband connection just only for 5 days, then i recieved the total outstanding credit is 9000 QR.how come i have this kind of bill in 5 days?then i ask for the bill information, they say nothing...this telemunication company is rabbies...
Thanks everyone,
a friend of mine just told me " Basically, all u have to do is restart it. Unless u have a very old router (2 years +) settings won't have much to do with it "....
I have done that, but no success...and one of Qtel technicians also mentioned I need to change settings...anyway, I will try later when I go home, and let you know how I did it ( whenever......)

nothing you have to do...just check your DSL Connection tab under status window and make sure that Downstream Rate and Upstream Rate are more than 2527 Kbps ,316 Kbps respectively
I had the two meg package which was automatically changed to the 4mb a while ago, I also have a WAG160N and had to do nothing to change it, however I never got 2mb and have never had 4mb, when I had the 2mb, I had average download of 1.25mbps and upload of 0.6mbps, since they changed it to 4mb it has been about 2.75mbps download and 1.25mbps upload. I think alot depends on where you live, how far from the local exchange, how many people are using that exchange. I find that in the evenings and weekends it goes really slow, and the best I remember ever having was about 3.2mbps. 4mb just means the your package and line is capable of 4mbps under ideal conditions (you live 2m from the exchange and no one else is using it) I don't think it actually means you will ever get it, using it wirelessly also slows the speed. have you tried speedtest.net to see what it actually is.
It may also take a few days or a week or two for QTEL to activate.
