Relocate Furniture???
Just wondering if anyone can advise us on whether we are better off relocating our furniture and going for an unfurnished villa, or going for furnished and putting our furniture in storage. My company will cover the cost of shipping, so I'm confused what the better option is!!
Would greatly appreciate your collective counsel.
Hi,
I sent some of my favourite furniture here.
Besides rent saving from an unfurnished house, one practical benefit is that you get the furniture you really like. I have visited many friends' houses and apartments, and the furiniture provide by their landlords are, as expected, of average quality at best. Almost all of them end up buying some furniture here to build up a more personal touch.
You may need to consider the costs of moving the furniture back to homecountry in case you don't find the job/company here suitable. You probably would like to 'wait and see'.
Thanks.

depends on how long you plan to stay here. If your company will pay to ship your stuff here, great, but whos going to pay for it when you leave. If you are then just calculate how much it will cost to take back compared to how much you will pay here for furnished apartments for the lengh of time your staying here. For example we pay $300 a month for furnished apartments compared to our neighbours who have unfurnished, for two years which is what we plan to stay then it worked out cheaper than if we had to ship our stuff back and forth, not to mention the hassles...If the company will pay both ways then ship your stuff over... hope i havent confused you..
ofcourse, relocation your goods.
hey BC, I am caught in the same quandry. The rents actually reduce if you take up an unfurnished place. how much is the question.Still I reckon if the company is paying for the relocation any saving on House rent - thats if you are paying for rent is worthwhile, in case the company is paying the rent then any thing of sentimental value is probably what you may wish to bring over.hope this is of some help.
