resident status but will not bring the family here

Hi Everyone,

Im new here and had a hard time how to post comments.

I was offered a job in Ras laffan. It will be a resident status(married category). The company will give housing allowance around 11K QR.

I have no intention to bring my family to Qatar because the kids are currently enrolled in Phil. and they dont want to be in Qatar.

Is there any law or regulations here in Qatar that requires(mandatory) to bring my family here after getting RP? I am a bit worried that Company may cut-off or reduce the housing allowance. Please share your experience(those who are currently employed in DolphinEnergy please share..). Thanks

i think alexis knows that what he's about to do is wrong and also knew the answer to his question. he is just trying to find loopholes so he can justify keeping the extra cash and use it on other things..

it is very simple, if you bring your family over not as visitors but as residence, then you are entitled to get married housing allowance.. otherwise don't cheat your company, they're the ones paying you so you can provide for your family.. if you decide to do the wrong thing, and you get caught.. you better be saving all those money because you'll be paying back way more than what you got from them...

Honesty is still the best policy...

The Law: Does not prohibit them coming here. If the company and you want them to come here, they will sponsor their RPs. Immigration is only concerned about their legality as residents and they dont care about the issues of housing/allowances.

The company: On the other hand the company has policies for single/married people. Contravening these policies is also trespassing the law, albeit not immigration law. Yes, so the company "may" not check, but if they do you are on the wrong side of the law and liable to repay.

If they check and find you are duping them, they may still not do anything.

But dude, IF they check and IF they find out and IF they decide to take serious measures, you are in trouble.

Even morally, this is incorrect. Just because DEL isnt checking doesnt mean you should falsify information.

As for Qatarisun's suggestion.......a married status, according to company policy, is if your wife and/or kids reside with you as residents, NOT as visitors. So, NO, you are NOT entitled to 11k QR if they visit you on vacations.

Air tickets: Your company will give them air tickets (only once a year) ONLY IF they have RPs.(i.e. you are on Married status). If you are on single status, they will NOT give them air tickets.

Make your choice and I strongly suggest be honest. Of course.......you can ask HR

usually QP and related companies and most firms have that regulation that you will be granted family allowance if your family is resident here

almost all of companies do alexies for sponsored staff. Some only 75% of all fees or 100% of tuition fee.

Hello Willard , are you a DolphinEnergy employee...How did you know that the Company will give educational assistance from the company 4~19 years of age?

Hello Willard, yes qatarisun's advise is well-taken...I might do that, besides all airfare by Company...so no problem.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

alexies, consider qatarisun's advise... first, let your family come and apply for a resident permit (RP) for your family. anyway, it'll be the company whose going to take care the nitty gritty of processing with the immigration. once they got their RP, you may opt to send them back to Philippines and come back here in Qatar for vacations. But it is not good to rely on saying that the company does not care if your family is here or not... eventually, the company will check it out once everything have been stream-lined. And if the company finds out that your family's not here... yes, the company may ask you to return back the money. Anyhow, if you're worrying about your children's education, your are entitled for an educational assistance from the company for your children 4yrs. until 19yrs. of age or until your children had completed secondary education. have a nice day ahead!

Thanks PB. I need to discuss it with HR and to read the Company policy/rules. I have just a talked with one of future colleague and he said, no problem about it. Its up to me. Company dont care about it so far. He said "everybody does". :))

You should do the honest thing and check with your company. Married benefits are paid to those who have their families living here with them, if your family has no intention of this then you are considered as entitled to only single benefits. This rule is enforced in many companies and if it is discovered that your family are not coming then you will be asked to pay the money back( or worse). And your company will find out eventually...is it really worth the risk?

Thanks for your advise/comments...

At least there is no law about it.

well its up to alexies.. he is the one who is going to deal with it later, not me.. in my company we actually have to have our family residing in Qatar (meaning they went through the residency process.. medical, fingerprinting.. etc not just a visit visa) to get the family allowance for housing, if not, we just get the company provided housing.

again alexies is the one who will be in trouble if i'm right.. he better check it with his Human Resources..

If he don't want to ask his HR.. i wonder why? hmmmmm

first, the family might come for vacation, and second, they have rights to come to Qatar any time they want or decide to. So nothing wrong with having family accommodation available for your family any time.

As per your contract, you are entitled to a family status accommodation, whether you bring them or not, it's up to you!

Now, you may get them to come on vacations or holidays, but if you requested a family accommodation, and they accepted, then its up to you!

Also, there is no law mandatory to bring your family to doha.

you what do get an allowance for something you don't even intend to do??? that's cheating and if your company find out then they can make you payback the family housing allowance they gave you, and if you're not able to pay it back.. its either they take it out of your pay or worse you go to jail.. there's no law forcing you migrate your family here, but there is a law against taking money that is not use for what it is intended for and that is called fraud...
