So I've seen the apartment allocated to me for arrival, very nice. What about the grounds? Does it have a gym and pool? If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Will I want to stay or will I be looking to move ASAP?
s-isale - I just keep sending documents and recieving them back and sending them again and then being told I have to wait for this and that and this again.... to be fair it's not much worse than it is in the UK, although the UK seems to like to charge you lots more money!
Just thought. If you're planning on hiring a car here bring an international Driving Permit with you (If it's not too late). You can get one at the PO. With an IDP you can hire a car but this has to be done before HR start processing your RP. Once they start applying for your RP then you have to wait for it to come through before you can hire a car.You can also get a temporary qatari License but again this has to be done before RP is processed.(Will also cost about £50). You will be provided with a driver to take you to and from school for about 4 weeks then you have to make your own arrangements. Hopefully someone in your apartment block will also be teaching at Al Maha so you can get a lift.
I have been here since 26th Oct and still waiting for my RP.Hopefully coming through soon.
If there's anything else you need to know, ask and I will try and answer. Still very new to it all myself!!!
It's about 10-15 min drive to City Centre. Not sure if any of them use this website. I am at the Al Jazeera compound but when I first came (Oct) I was living just round the corner from SK. Any idea which school you'll be teaching in?

Wow, that looks very close to the centre of Doha. Brilliant!
Excellent! Do any come on here do you know? I arrive in Doha at around 7pm on Friday so I'm sure I'll meet some sooner or later!
This apartment compound is in the Bin Mahmoud area. There are quite a few employees of the Ta'allum Group living there.
