My residence permit isnt done yet, but since I was coming from another GCC country( bahrain RP) and got my local employer to issue a letter saying I am in their employ and my RP is under process i guess it worked.
I havent got it registered yet, but I did ship it from bahrain last month.
I got my car deregistered and got an export number plate. Also from my car dealer had to get what is called the GCC statistical record showing the GCC import duty was paid when I purchased it( this should save you from paying the duty all over again.
I was given 3 copies of the export certficate and at the border was issued a receipt ( its in arabic i cant figure what it mentions) but reckon it has my engine , chassis and reexport number on it.
I am told, along with local insurance get the Qatar traffic office to register in your name.

Hi,
Which country are you moving in from? Will it be shipped together with your household goods? How old is the car?
If you are coming from the UK do note that right hand drive vehicles cannot be registered.
Vehicle should not be older than 5 years.
Your residence permit needs to be in place before you can ship it in.
There are other issues with bringing in cars, such as getting spare parts, etc.
I need complete info in order to give you a comprehensive reply.
Anyway, I hope this helps.
