Telly-bly confused!

I've been trying to figure out TV packages available here, and am very, very confused!

We're moving into an apartment that already has some basic TV package (they said Nilesat, Arabsat - don't know what those are or include, but don't think that will serve).
It also already has an internet and phone connection.
Hence the Qtel Mozaic package that everyone talks of seems like a waste.

What we want : Good movie and TV series (in English) channels (like OSN);
Sports - F1, Premier League and Italian football most important;
National Geographic and the likes of the Travel Channel;
BBC News and Entertainment and a couple of other news channels;
A few Italian channels (although not indispensable)

Is there any package that offers all or most of this? It is just so confusing!
Please help! :)

...and is it legal?

If I were to respond to that, the mods would delete my comments. Staying STRICTLY ON topic is the new mantra here on QL. They deleted lots of comments since yesterday :(

So back to topic, Mr. non-Marxist, how do I get a VPN to another country? And which countries would that work for?

Thnak you, and thank you! :)

(Will take you up on that first one :))

Karl Marx (wow, what a choice of ID in this American-chain overrun country!) - and how would I go about doing that? I thought that was illegal. Sorry if I sound like a ditz in this department.

Get a VPN to your home country and then watch whatever you want.

...Although it sounds real confusing :)

Maybe I should take a printout of this thread and just show it to the technician at the compound. I'll avoid the risk of sounding too dumb, then ;)

Hotbird is a satellite just as Nilesat is. The two dishes (one for each satellite) should be placed in such a way that they can receive the signals from the satellites. You need a receiver (any will do), and a switch to change between the satellites. There are thousands of free programs (including the ones I mentioned) and Pay TV programs. You can always buy a card for these via Internet. Just make sure your receiver has at least one slot for such a card.

Yes, the hordes of unwatched channels is what I thought of when they told me I have 'free' TV - Nilesat, Arabsat and Asiasat.

However, now LP made it sound better than I thought.

Thank you.

Not like I can't wait to move from in the lap of luxury back to plebeian life, though ;)

Thanks, is Hotbird part of the '-sat' packages or another satellite?

Thanks, but couldn't find an add-on package on Mozaic with the kind of combination we would like :(

Any other ideas?

You get good movies on MBC and Fox (Nilesat), F1 on Abu Dhabi Sports (Nilesat), Italian sports on RAI (Hotbird). No need for any package. If you have these two satellites you can watch all these for free!

I was confused at first. We went with the Mozaic package but we also have OSN (don't know if that is part of it or not to be honest).

Lots and lots and lots of channels but most of it unwatched lol

Congratulations :D

I don't thin any channel there shows Italian Football but I maybe wrong.
