Hi :)

Interviewing for an O&G IT job this weekend based on Doha and trying to figure out potential budget needs just to be ready.

Can anyone describe the differences between a compound, a villa, a full-service tower flat, etc? I think I can guess for most of it, but would really like to here from someone who's there.

I'm a single guy, 30, no kids... prefer not to be stuck in the middle of families w/ kids running everywhere... somewhat city-central... and prefer to live near other expats. Any suggestions?

looks like fully furnished flats in West Bay go for 10-13k... any suggestions on whether that's realistic or its expected to negotiate down - and if so how far down it might be able to go? :)

thanks deedee :) the office is just a few blocks from the Sheraton, which doesnt seem TOO far from west bay, assuming that's up north of the office near west bay lagoon.

for gated communities. Full of houses (villas) lots of families with kids. A villa is a house that is located alone (no gated neighborhood) A full-service tower flat is an apartment building, usually with various ammenities (gym, pool, etc) full-service call mean different things according to the tower. Some even come with daily maid service! Expats are all over Doha in all categories. I would suggest for a single person a tower flat in the West Bay area. First, though, find out what your office will be located. Traffic is horrendous in Doha.
