Hi All,
I have a driving license in UAE and I'm moving to Qatar soon, can transfer mine to Qatari license or i have to go through the school process? and what about shipping my car to Doha,, do you guys recommend that (in terms of hard procedures) ?
shifting your car by a crane from UAE to here will cost you around 5000 QR. This includes the registeration fees and the insurance (third party) and includes also all fees wich will be paid on UAE, KSA & Qatar boarders.
I came to Doha in Jan 2009 and shifted my car (2005 model, 4 years old) from Sharjah to Doha in Mar 2009 and I paid 5000 QR including 200 QR tips for the crane driver.
One more important point: after completing the export papers (in RTA or Wasel if you are moving from Dubai) you have to bring the Customs certificate to avoid paying the Customs here in Doha again, as in GCC if the cusomes paid in UAE for example, it will not be paid again in any of the GCC. This certificate can be obtained from the car agent. In my case they took from me 200 AED and they got it for me within 2 days. Good Luck ... :)
so the driving license is a piece of cake :) ... my car is ford Mustang 2009.. any idea how much does it cost to register the car and how much approx. the other fees for the MOI?
You can easily convert your UAE driving license. Get an eye test and pay the required fees.
I did ship my car from Dubai to Doha (by land). My car was 5 years old (Mercedes). The registration process is easy as long as you have all the export papers.
I moved just over a couple of years ago, and had to go thru a 5 mins eye test, and got my temporary license within 10mins. The permanent license is issued once u get your RP (Residence Permit) processed, and to convert the temp license to perm is a 10 mins process also. Shipping ur car, depends on what model, it must be less than 5 years old, I used TAS shipping, I will PM the details to u.
Yes, you can have your UAE driving license transferred with Qatari one. Shipping car would be easier than driving it from UAE to Qatar. However, it is expensive. I would suggest you to sell your car and buy one in Qatar.
I too had the similar situation 6 years back. I had to have a EYE test by the authority and i was issued a Qatari Deiving License. I hope that hold good even today.
Regarding shipping the car , it is worth only if the car you have is too dear to you or if that does not fetch you a fair price if sold in UAE. I am sorry i have no idea on the documentation side of the process. Welcome to Doha -God Bless
