Upmarket areas to rent a flat

Hi there,
I have gotten an offer from a company in Qatar. I am a single guy and would like to rent a 1 Bedroom fully furnished flat, I have been following the QL classifieds for sometime now and I just wanted to figure out which are upmarket areas of Doha apart from West Bay and Pearl. I have a housing allowance of around 5100 QR a month. Will that be enough for a fully furnished 1 bedroom flat?

Regards,

Venky

Dear All,

Thanks for the quick and prompt responses. Just a clarification:

1. I am not looking at staying in West Bay or the Pearl.

2. All I want is a decent area to live in with easy access to places a single guy would like to hang out at.

3. My office will be near the Dasman Shopping Center on Airport Road.

I am absolutely new to Doha and Qatar and have absolutely no clue about the areas where I can rent I have seen ads for few fully furnished 1 bedroom apartments around 5,000 QR near the Old Airport area as per those classifieds so just wanted to know whether its a good area to rent.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Venky,

the Time Out Doha magazine has recently published the Location Report that may be useful:

Al Sadd - QR5,500 to QR12,000 for apartments

The Mall area - QR5,000 to QR8,000 for apartments

With your allowance I suggest you also look in areas like Muntazah, Najma, Mansourah, Bin Omran for a 1 bedroom flat (max. 2 bedroom).

Upmarket areas in Doha are by the sea, close to embassies and 5-star hotels. Either with new towers or large villas.

Other areas are equally as good and with all the convenient facilities a person may need, even more than Westbay and The Pearl. They are more developed as residential areas and you will find shops, supermarkets and schools close by.

The Qatarvisitor.com website offers a useful guide on the different areas of Doha and expectations called THE DOHA AREA ACCOMMODATION GUIDE- I advise you to consult (http://www.qatarvisitor.com/index.php?cID=444&pID=1572).

Good luck,

Ana

You'll be lucky to find any decent, fully furnished flat for 5100/month. Even average ones in the less pleasent areas of town cost about this much.

A one bedroom fully furnished flat at The Pearl/West Bay Area for QAR5100??? :O

Sorry, my friend...you need to have a budget of (minimum)QAr8,000 for a 1 bedroom flat (UNFURNISHED)at the ZigZag Tower.

at THE PEARL, have a budget from 13,000 to 18,000...

Assuming that you will be working in Doha, which area will you be working in given that the traffic congestion is bad and journey times will be worth considering?
