what should i do?
Somone bumped the front of my car, smashing the lights and a big dent, while it was parked near my office. The insurance is just a third party liability policy.
Yesterday we (along with a colleague)went to the traffic police and lodged a compalint and the personnel there asked us to come back in 4-5 days, he gave us some official looking paper.
I have a few queries:
1) Do i have to pay for the repairs, since whoever bumped my car, took off.
2) Why do the traffic police take so long in issuing whatever papers they have to issue so that i can take my car for repairs.
3) I just bought this used car only a few days back, model 2006 - and it only came with a third party policy.
Can i get a full insurance coverage for my car which is a 2006 model (Suzuki swift)? which insurance company can take care of this matter. The car is in pretty good condition, apart from the bump and the headlight.
Advise will be appreciated.
1. As you are not sure of the culprit you will be the one paying for the car with third party insurance.
2. Traffic Department is waiting for other complaints regarding your car (if you hit someone as they are not sure what happened).
3. I dont think it is possible but you can check with the Insurance Companies.
