For used clothes, some mosques have drop bins or boxes for donations. For food (especially the perishable ones), I agree with 'the rock', you can give it to workers within your vicinity. It will serve the same purpose as sharing your bounty. And they will be equally grateful and happy as well.

I understand for clothes but 'used food'!.... do you mean half eaten food? or expired food?

If the food is any good, you can give it to any one labor, security, other workers in your area, by respectfully packing it and offer it to them in a dignified way (as a gift).

My barometer for offering food to anyone is the question 'can i eat the same myself'?

There is a dumpster in front of Food place in Al sadd, and al meera superrket (mansoura)for clothes.

i dont know abt food items.
