Getting your child into a good school is a real issue here. My 2 children started Park House last September but 3 weeks after school had started. We were fortunate enough to be offered places as children didnt come back after the summer. I have heard quite a few stories like this.

Dont give up.

I have a child due to go start shool in Septemeber and am the same situation as Ying2210 - - and we have been on the waiting list for a good while for them all - they are all closed and most of them now fully payed up for the reception class in September and still with very long waitlists. On talking to the person at DESS she said it is due to a massive influx of exapts last year into Qatar due to global recession and now and so the prolem in likely to continue through this age group through the school system (a kind of expat baby boom!!). We have given up and I am having to take my child back to the UK to go to school there while my husband sees out his contract here.

The waitlists are long and they have closed and do not accept any applications for the Sep admission.

I am stuck because I cannot find any vacancy for my 2 children.

Hi,

I guess at this point it would be a question of which school is willing to take on your child....

DESS and Doha College are the best schools offering British curriculum in Doha-though I think both have looong waiting lists-you'd better hurry and apply if you are looking at them....

Next in line would be ParkHouse-supposedly the school has improved a lot in recent times and offers great facilities...

Not too much of an idea about newton-though i think they are still offering places for students for September...

Have got only negative reviews about Cambridge-bot too sure if there's been any improvement recently though...

Hope this helps

My son been going to DESS starting from the nursery, and this year is his4th year. We have no complain whatsoever. Been told that DESS is on par with the top 5 percents schools around the UK.

I would say which school giving a 'seat' to your child. Haave you receive any confirmation for placement yet?

If you can get into Doha English Speaking School I certainly highly recommend that school.
