QR 14,000 Salary Package - will it be enough?

I recently got a job offer in Qatar as ELV Systems Engineer, with a monthly compensation of QR 14,000 per month all inclusive. Can I live in Qatar with my family with this income? Please, really will appreciate if someone could give me an answer. Thanks a lot.

If you spend within your means, surely you can save and have your family here. I know of some Asian expats who earns less that 10K and yet living a decent life.

Honestly, this is above average offer and your expenses will entirely depend on the kind of lifestyle you want to live or.... you want to project.

For example, I saw Asian children here in Doha who have ipads and top of the line phones even at a very young age.

If this is the kind of life you want, surely you still can live but you can't have savings.

Cheers

Mr.Raheem

Your offer is good but if you could negotitae with your employer on following things it will be great:

1) Family Medical Insurance cover

2) Loan facility for car etc

3) School fees for kids & their school transportation

Dreams are not what u see while u sleep but those which dont let u sleep till its achieved.

Kabayan! thats a good offer! Hopefully you could have confirmation from the employer that it is a Family Visa. Please check some sample cost of living in this link.

no second thought my friend, go for it. you will be able to save too, with the type of lifestyle you mentioned. and family visa is not an issue with the salary you mentioned. its a good offer. cheers mate!

Manu, the whole point of the family visa system is that people cannot live in Qatar and support a family decently on less than 10,000 basic salary. That's why that minimum is in place.

It's a good offer...since people live here with family on salaries as low as 2000QR.It really depends on people, but there are basic amenities like accomodation, transportation, food which more or less is the same for an average person.

And you could save money too. It's difficult getting a job, so grab the one that has come to you,but make sure everything is in place.

You can live decently even with family and make savings with 15k.. Indians are not lavish spenders and the fees in some schools is also cheap.

if your only couple without kids then maybe you can able to save atleast 5000qr per month with limited facilities anf if you have kids then for each kid school fees in mes around 700qr monthly including transport if you get admission but other indian schools monthly 1200qr

if you bring your family, there are costs regarding schooling (i assume you have kids)so check the schools websites to get an idea of the fees... which can go from 10000 to 50000 a year per student... unless your company pays for the school as part of the contract then you can definitely live decently.

HTH!

If you are living as a single, you will be spending around QR 2500 for accommodation which possibly would be a single room, single occupancy. Food will cost you around QR 600 per month should you decide to cook at home. If you decide to eat outside you may be spending around QR 1000 per month but it all depends on you. For other miscellaneous expenses add another QR 750. However, if you bring in your family, the entire scenario changes.

With the salary you are being offered, I think there is much savings in hand.

Hi Nafeels, Is your family with you? Can you do me a favor? Can you please give me a rough breakdown of expenses in one month. I mean the basics. Thanks a lot..

It really depends on your lifestyle and the way you manage your money and savings. That's exactly how it is.

I am really confused here as I read in other threads that those who earns 7000 QR monthly were advised by some that they can live decently in qatar depending on their lifestyles. And some of them though getting 15K QR were told that it will be very difficult to make a living there. I am a non drinker, non smoker, and in a very moderate life style. I might only need a car in installment just to come and go.

I am sure many QL members may suggest you to accept this offer but trust me, if you want to live a life with dignity and respect, you would not save anything on that salary.

You may ask your employer to provide accommodation (which eats most of your salary) and if possible, tuition fees for kids and health insurance for all.

Good luck!

Accommodation is very expensive and if you are going to spend your money in transportation you will save nothing..

By mohdata• 4 Sep 2013 17:36

also, get a commitment from the employer that they will give you family status BEFORE you come here or accept the offer..trying after coming here has a high failure rate

with your family no; single bachelor yes..you probably wont get a family visa either
