QP Offer

My Husband has been offered a job at QP. Grade 12, basic salary is around QR 11.000 per month + allowances. Accommodation at the ouset is provided by the Company for around the 1st 4 months, then we will be required to live in Mesaieed once Company accomodation becomes available. We will be coming to Qatar by ourselves without any children.

Can anyone advise if this is a reasonable offer?

Also is there anyone on QL who works for QP who can advise what the accomodation is like?

Thank you

Minnieme

My husband will also be working at QP and comes over this weekend, i will be following around July or August. Dont like discussing salary but my husband was offered his in Novemver 06, so not sure if the pay rise will have been taken into account then. Anyway really looking forward to coming to Qatar, in fact I am coming over for a holiday on the 26th May for 2 weeks, so might see some of you there.

GothicMaiden not seen anything about housewives not being allowed a driving licence, dont know what I will do if I cant drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pay rise would already have been taken into account with the salary they offered. I take it you will be looking for an apartment for that price. You won't find a villa, even unfurnished. As Novita77 says, the housing in Mesaieed won't be ready anytime soon.

Have you read any of the posts regarding the possibility of housewives not being allowed driving licences? Makes for amusing reading.

When will you be coming out? I'm in UK at present but returning in June. We love the summer in Qatar. So much quieter.

Thanks interesting, why wouldnt my husband get the pay rise?. Regarding the allowance i think the housing allowance is around 8250.00 and an allowance for furiture around 45000. thought the pay was quite good though. Never mind he has accepted it now. no mention of the senior staff club. Thanks for the info.

My husband came out to work for QP at the end of last century. He was grade 14 and offered 11,000 QR then. Given the current poor exchange rate of 7.1 riyals to £1, you should be looking hard as to whether you would be getting a better deal here than in UK. Days of making a fortune here are long gone: just enjoying the sunshine.

Rumours abound of a potential pay rise of 12%. Unfortunately, your husband would not be eligible for that. Doesn't sound like lots of money to me.

Wonder whether you would have to find your own accommodation till it's available down South. It won't be ready any time soon.

Be interesting to hear what the 'allowances' are. We're still waiting for them to replace the Senior Staff club which was demolished a long time ago. Did they mention that in the job offer, I wonder?

The accommodation they offer primarily is okay: villa in a nice (I hate that word) compound. Rents have now outpaced the housing allowance and then some! No one would get similar housing once they leave the confines of Al Bayan Compound.

Don't let me put you off, though: we love it here regardless.

Glad to hear that some people still want to work for QP! My husband & I are "looking forward" to the move down to Mesaieed. I take it you are presently in UK. I'm back there early next month. Want I should give you a call? ;o)

minnieme ... doubt it the house would be ready in 4 months. We will have to move there as well ... but it won't be ready in three months. The building is far from finish.

normally they will put you in QP compound for the first 3 month, then you will get an allowance to get your own place after hubby finish probation. I am not clear how much you will be getting ... housing are very expensive at the moment ... eventhough in my husband salary ban our housing allowance is hardly enough.
