I got an offer to move to Qatar,  and the package is
salary 18K
housing 12K
car allow  1K
living allow 3.5K
+ tutions fees
my questions are..
housing allowance is enough for a 3br villa unfurnished?
living allowance ins enough to pay services for 2 adults and 2 kids
is this package in general a good offer to live in qatar?
Does anyone know a real state agent that i can get contact?..

if a villa 3 BR is around 15K,    with 12K, can I get a 3 BR apartment including W/E , Internet, etc.  Kind of service apartment?

Is there any area in Doha that you would recommend for living ( safe and clean ),  so I can start looking for apartments in that areas

Also, one more question,  how much is the price for a brand new Pajero or Prado?  and which one would you recommend

Thanks a lot for your help..

Not much going on today.  Just staying close to home and hanging out with the family.  My son has a hockey game this morning at Villagio so heading out for that shortly.  How about you?

Your comment on my formal style of writing made me laugh.  I do have a tendency to write way more formal than I speak. lol lol lol.  Just a habit from working in an office for so many years, I'm sure.  But I will try to do better and if someday if we ever get a chance to meet - I'll show you that I am really not all that formal.  lol lol lol

Have a great day!!!!  and thanks for your PM and help.

Morning to you too girl, Totally agreeable, people should not come here if they have to compromise on living....from back home...

Hmmm...your puppy...indeed account it for that...

And please girl, early morning, come on lets talk normallly, and not too formally with all the forgives...and all...

So what is in store for today...

oh hey - one more thing.  I know of a new family that will be coming to Doha.  The husband is here but the family won't be coming until June.  The husband's company gives a housing allowance but no help in finding accomdations.  He is in a small apartment right now but needs to find something bigger and is looking for a 3 bedroom villa preferrably in a compound. Being new, he is having trouble finding housing for the family.  You know - who to trust, what to look for, etc.  It is a daunting process for a newbie and as I have never had to do that - I am virtually of no help at all.  You seem to be aware of some very good accomodations.  Would you PM with details that I can pass on to this family?

Thanks!

Oh wow - I'm sorry.  Good Morning.  I'm usually not that rude.  Can we stock it up to my puppy wanting to go outside while I was starting to answer you post.

Anyway - I revised my post because I had answered another posters response earlier who had said they were coming from the States and silly me, I thought this was the post cuz I was in a hurry with the above mentioned puppy.

Anyway - you make some very good points.  I too hate the fact that different nationalities get different pay scales.  I, again, assumed the poster was American and was concerned that the pay sounded great to him but according to what he would have been used to at home - he  would have been disappointed once he got here.  In no way do I promote the difference in salaries, but people moving here need to compare their lifestyle and cost of living to what they have at home and find out if they can make it work for them.  Some can and some can't.

I hope you can forgive me my mistake.

Hey there Tweety, First of all, dont I even get a Good morning ...bad sad...

Anyways absolutely spot on with your comments, agreed that things in Qatar are going for a toss...Look at the question, just a second time, 12K - 3 B/R Place...hmmmm....girl I m pretty sure that I have seen some superb Compound Villas for about the same price...second, ofcourse he would have to pay his personal things like food, clothing, you cant expect the comp to pay for that , can you (while I would always expect that...Lol- you' re supposed to smile at this line)...

There is just one thing that same like you I also share the same opinion, you dont compromise on your living conditions because at the end of the day, it is at the house that you expect some peace, so no way no compromises, but for 12k trust me girl, there are really nice compound places (when I was searching for a place, I did get hold of some)...

Regarding two cars, again that is a personal decision, you could always do with one, but your choice, you want to save some, you gotto let go of some isn't it Tweety...

Being an American, English, or any other nationality, shouldn't be the baseline for making a judgement on the wages that one recieves is just a thing that always circles my mind, just because you are American, doesnt mean you get paid whooping figures, again making a move to Qatar for better wages, and expecting more because you are American or you have things back home to cover for, hmmm, girl, doesnt serve the purpose, move because this is a better job, a better offer, but since you are moving, wanting to get more pay now thats a tough side to see the coin from...

Whilst, surely your opinion wasn't put to insult, it is just that one line about 12k not being good enough for a 3B/r was under speculation...

So whilst, that is being taken care off, whats for breakfast...whats happening its a Friday so holiday for you right...whats on the cards...

Whilst the air of concern raised by the 2 ladies or rather their view point is quite alright, I would still say that this salary is a good deal buddy, what crap where do you want a house on the Corniche or around that place, then you would have to pay 24k, but just look around, there are superb accomodations available for 12K, a 3 BR Villa, open your eyes, not everything is spoon fed, if newbies start reading your replies, they would start thinking that unless you get above the 50K mark, it is tough to satisfy themselves and the QL readers, come on people, give them a reality check,

I am quite sure that this amount is a very good offer, since the tuition is covered, and come on people, stop saying that, not everyone gets these offers, and asking people to negotiate for more housing, this looks more like a pledge at QL, anyone with any Job or work related or salary queries, ask for more housing...nevermind how much is being offered in the first place, what crap...Tweety, this package is way too above decent in the first place...

Novita is right.  15K for a stand along villa that is not a part of a compound and the housing manager for my company told me that 3 bedroom villas in compounds are going for around 24K and higher.  Car allowance is low too. to give you an idea - renting a compact car is around 2K per month.  Of course buying a car and making payments is less expensive.

As long as tuition is covered - if you could get more for housing, it would be a decent package.

ur package not brilliant but not bad either. For housing for 3 bedroom villa not in the compound you will need at least 15 K.
