There is actually *some* truth to this.

A friend of mine used to work in australia while studing forensics. Now knowing 

the rate a human corpse decomposes at is vital for identifying the time of death 

in some murders; unfortunatly scientists can't use human corpses unless they 

work on the body farm in the US, so they use pigs because they are so similar

to humans (many organ transplants come from pigs). Of course a human corpse

wearing nothing will decompose faster than one wearing tight clothing, so to 

get a wide range of data, they will actually dress the pigs up in clothes....

including g-strings, bras, corsets, etc...(as well as normal clothing) then leave them to decompose.

I think if you guys went back to the original post you would see him using scriptures from the bible. Because many muslims use scripture to support their beliefs in Islam.  And pork is one of them. I personally do not use this as proof..

And was then only responding to red popes post from a christian perspective. in which I then responded again to pm's post from both religious perspectives.

Using insight, I think the original poster probably wrote this to backlash on all the rude comments found everywhere on QL about how yummy and delicious pork is to eat while they know it disgusts muslims.  In fact, I am sure many muslims on QL become quite offended at the sarcastic remarks relating to Pork. And even within this very thread one finds mainly sarcasm, outright rudeness, and childish behavior. Nothing seems to be taken seriously!

As adults who have left highschool perhaps it would suit us better to let our feelings known to the original poster that we are not happy he posted this article for A, B and C.   RAther than making everything fun and games.

Which is why I appreciate the seriousness of your post scarlett!

Again...what gives us the right to scrutinize and question anything in the scriptures? if your religion tells u not to eat pork then DONT! I dont want someone quoting me verses from the bible telling me dont eat so and so animal, all creatures were created by God to serve man, and if man must eat animals to survive then so be it. Those last two points of this topic is really sad and just goes to show this persons inability to use something called a BRAIN. I agree with Scarlett, leave us to believe what we believe. Just coz others eat something that is forbidden in your religion doesnt mean you have to go around searching for things in the bible that says otherwise, heck i know plenty of muslims that do eat pork so get real and stop this nonsense.

Yes scarlett but if they (non muslims) made a genuine remark about the Quran as something that came from a fantasy .. then that would be a perception that they based on A,B and C.  I have seen this several times in my short time on QL where people have questioned the motives of Mohammad PBUH himself. And that seems perfectly natural and acceptable to me since they are non-muslims.

I don't think its unfair to question the source of revelation within the bible. As a person who loves christ very much because I was raised and baptised as a christian ... my mother and her side of the family are all christian and my uncle was a preacher.

To me the passages also seem very straightforward. I don't see anywhere else in the bible mention that pork is allowed to eat. Accept the quote that I heard for the first time about Pauls dream that was quoted by Red Pope.  And, unfortunately, I do have some serious reservations about who paul was. And if these passages are even really from him!

Just as pm mentioned earlier about scholars and opinions. And that to me is the reason i am glad that every scholar in Islam has the right to be scrutinized on whether they are right or wrong.

And ask you what is the basis one can scrutinize paul if not through revelation?

Certainly I am glad that we as a religious people can scrutinize our texts and beliefs. And that freedom of choice is something I hold very dear to my heart.

Also..almost ANY animal will breed and allow other males to breed with the females..pigs are no different. Most farm animals are NOT monogamous. AND...from what I've read, beef actually is much worse for your circulatory system than pork. More cholesterol and artery clogging issues.

Some folks intrepretations of the Bible are just so way out there...Most of the non muslim QLers don't say that the Quran is based on something they think is fantasy....so why say what others believe in Jesus and the disciples, only based on dreams? The disciples spread the word of Jesus LONG after he was crucified, which is why you see a lot of their works in the Bible.  They are the ones who witnessed the miracles and knew Jesus first hand. So, before you go slamming Christianity as "dreams", stop and think, please. Have enough respect for others' religious beliefs, even tho they are different than yours.

Well yesterday I spent just under an hour correcting his "scientific" evidence along with sources...but my browser crashed when I hit 'post' and I lost it all:(

Needless to say, his "study" doesn't exist. The FDA have strict guidelines 

for cooking times to prevent transmission of the parasite.

The only argument he has is the religious argument, and that's not going to 

convince anyone else.

It is true that the New Testamant is large made up of letters from Paul, but then again, you have to consider that Christians believe that Paul was following Jesus' message and shaping the "Christian" practices through Divine guidance

Based on whose authority? Where in the bible or any revelation is it said that paul was given authority by jesus or God to be a prophet or missionary of God? So if you make that authority without proof or revelation then by default one has made Pauls writing before jesus.

Saying Paul is more important than Jesus is like saying the so-called scholars in Islam are more important that our Prophet (saw).

The difference is that Paul incorporated his own creed and experiences as part of revelation.  Whereas the scholars of Islam base their writings on the words of the Prophet SAW and the Quran. And within Islam scholars are allowed to be scrutinized based on these two foundations.  However,  pauls writing are revelations and are not based on Jesus's testimony but rather his own experiences and beliefs (including dreams) and therefore THE foundation within modern day christianity. 

which makes pauls writings more important to modern christian belief than jesus's.

And also, in my country almost everybody has been eating pork for generations. We are neither more sick than other nations (we are more healthy, I'd say), nor fatter (slimmer we are!), we don't swap wives (ok, ok, not more than others).

I love pork and don't think chicken sausage is a sausage.

And there is nothing like a pork chop, potatoes and cabbage for sunday dinner!

maybe I should rephrase that. Paul is more important to the development of early christianity and its subsequent forms (Not to christians) then jesus.

remember jesus wrote nothing and all the stories that Paul failed to mention were written70-100yrs after the supposed crucifixion of jesus.

I don't see how that is an insult to both religions? Only if one thinks that questioning doctrines in a reasonable manner can be regarded as insulting.

I do realise that if jesus did not exist it also calls into question the accuracy of Mohammads revelation. but that is my view and if someone wants to give evidence for a real person called jesus who lived at that time and did all the things that are written about in the New Testament (other than using that as a source, and the Qu,ran obviously can't count either) then lets have it.

Yes adey.. although I do believe jesus existed it is soley based on blind belief.

And in fact, the belief that Mohammad is a prophet of God is also based on  the same premise.  As well as all the Prophets before him.

We call it belief in the al-ghaib in the Quran or belief in the unseen.

The only difference is, as you said we have proof that mohammad did indeed exist.

Yep, the history of  early christianity pretty much alludes to the fact that Paul is the most important figure in the religion NOT jesus. In fact we know Mohammed existed, the same cannot be said of jesus. Paul pretty much made the whole thing up, never refering to jesus as a living man at all: the only thing he wrote about him was the virgin birth, crucifixion and asscent into heaven - none of the rest that was aquired later. The parrallels with other 'hero' pagan gods is too numerous to mention - see Horus, Osiris, Dionysus, Mithras and Krishna: they are all the same story.

I suppose then that it takes me back to one of my first posts on the website that mentioned the bible is full of dreams. All though I now realize how to reword that remark a bit better. Many modern christian ideals are consolidated by dreams.. mmmm.... perhaps thats not the right way either?

I don't understand how this says NOT to eat pork??? Doesn't it just say that its not "necessarily" what goes in your mouth.. that makes you a screwed up person.. but what comes out of your  mouth. Therefore becareful of what is in our hearts.

And how does that make eating pork okay according the christianity. RAther it sounds like he is making a point that people could understand of the time. I.E. clarifying the false belief that eating something makes a person unclean!

     And trying to get people to stop worrying about the little things when much more important sins need focusing on first.  I.E. purifying our hearts!

And I think this last passage is excellent because it talks about the evil within a persons heart! And isn't part of being a good person obeying God and his commandments? Even if we have no reason (logically) to not eat pork other than obeying HIM! And, if we were grateful, wouldn't this be a small price to pay for everything he has given us? Especially when we look at the gift of guidance about purifying our hearts!

I agree pm in  what you said earlier.   In that if it was said in the Quran that pork is shameless or even a saheeh hadeeth then this statement would be normal and fine. Otherwise it is just rhetoric, opinion and false assumptions.

And far too often muslims tend to focus on less important issues than what we should focus on. And I think there is a reminder of this  in the above biblical passages.

Well I was once told, third hand, that the reason its sale is banned here is because of the fear that scraps of wasted pork would decay and infect the water table and thus Muslims would be involuntarily imbibing swine meat.

Let us talk about buying Pork, I don't want to eat it, I just want the right to buy it like UAE, Oman, and 90 % of the world.

I reckon that the local population is not strong enough in their beliefs to stay away from Pork, they have to be protected from themselves. When the Muslim religion starts to trust its believers to do the right thing, then it might become a religion to trust.

Jesus asked them. 17"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' "   The New testament is very specific about this.  Is not a sin to eat pork or any hoof animal. Is about every man and woman sins that degenerate their souls, is not what you eat.Yet you could follow diets for healthy eating, If you wish.  

Turks will not eat pork.

Many however hunt and eat wild boar.

Have a serious look into your scriptures in which you all believe (if you believe!). No further explanation is required about PORK being forbidden. Its enough for me, as a muslim to have the comandment from the holy Quran. What science has discovered so far, and what is yet to be discovered is supporting the not so good characteristics of swine meat. All those who are happly eating away the forbidden are not practicing their faiths in totality. Peace be upon them as well. Hope they see the truth.

as per bible pork is forbiden & shaheen belive me many christians do not eat pork.

if someone eats & enjoys & are healthy  then its upto them. they are surely answerable to the lord

 I just ate some fresh barbecue Pork chops for Dinner today and I'm feeling quite Holy and content this evening...  I'm sorry, If your religious dogmas are in contradiction to my believes..... In reality, I don't care about your opinion on Pork, Pigs and Hogs.

i have noticed point no 5 & 6 being done by pigs many many times , but not by any other animal.

I was raised on a hog producing farm and have ate pork all my life, never knew it was supposed to come with wife swapping too!!! Been happly married nearly 25 years and my wife has never heard of this either. What have we been missing?
