Another question...My contract reads that overtime is paid in accordance with Qatar labor law...
What does that mean?
Anyone?
Thanks!

HOURS WORKED

Qatar Labour Law stipulates - 8 hours work on a daily basis and 48 hours on weekly basis.

...in excess of 8 hours daily, 48 hours weekly, etc. is overtime...

PAYMENT

& 1.25 times of hourly rate is the overtime pay for extra hours worked thru the week

# 1.50 times of hourly rate is the overtime pay for extra hours worked on weekends (Fridays) and Holidays (i.e. Eid Holidays & National Day in Qatar).

PLEASE ADVISE if Overtime hours have been worked and no payment received for the same over a period of time ....can it be claimed? My office timings for years have been 10 hours daily....and my employer has never paid on the pretext that a annual bonus is paid yearly (which is again at the discretion of management). My timings still continue to be 10 hours ..even during Ramadan Month we were made to work for 8 hours when Ministry and Labour said working hours have been reduced to 6 hours thru Ramadan Month. What do i do in this ?

Awaiting advise from Labour Legal Experts...Thanks in Advance.
