Contestants auditioning for the 'Kantahan sa Doha 2008' singing contest. The Grand Final will be held at the Qube in conjunction with the benefit concert of internationally acclaimed Filipina singer Judy Azur Estrada entitled 'Wish'.
DOHA Dozens of Filipino wannabe singers turned up for an audition of the annual 'Kantahan sa Doha 2008' (Sing Out Doha) singing contest on Friday at the Central Caf Restaurant. The audition for the longest-running all-Filipino singing competition saw aspiring singers belt out English and Filipino contest numbers a capella.
"Ten contestants were chosen to compete in the elimination round which will take place at the end of this month at the Hyatt Plaza mall where seven will be selected for the semi-final round on November 7. Five contestants will be picked to compete in the grand final to be held at the Qube, Ramada Hotel, on December 8," said Jay Cabanero Pag-Iribang Bikolnon Qatar (PIBQ) Vice-Chairman for External Affairs.
PIBQ and Beats and Bytes Productions are jointly organising this year's biggest singing competition.
The grand winner will receive a cash prize worth QR5,000, a Mediacom Karaoke and a trophy. "The other finalists will each be awarded cash and gifts making all of them winners," said Cabanero.

The Grand Final will be held at the Qube in conjunction with the benefit concert of internationally acclaimed Filipina singer Judy Azur Estrada entitled 'Wish'.
Proceeds of the event will go to "Bayanijuan', an initiative of ABS-CBN Foundation a socio-civic organisation organised by multi-media conglomerate ABS-CBN-based on Filipinos' 'bayanihan' (volunteerism) spirit. Since its launch five years ago, this event has been one of the much-awaited occasions that enthrall thousands of Filipinos all over Doha who are singing fanatics.
