What's there left to do? (on weekends)

azilana7037
By azilana7037

Let me see now...

- Been to the inland sea several times
- Did dune bashing also
- attended barbeque parties (in beaches, in the desert and friends' homes)
- been to friends' private parties
- been to all clubs (discoes) and bars
- did overnight camping at the dessert
- did quadbiking
- attended concerts
- been to all the malls/shopping centres

Ok...what else to do in DOHA?

Travelling outside Qatar (Dubai, Oman, Egypt, etc)? Yup, but that would be possible for those who have EXTRA DOUGH to burn. But for the likes of me who earns just enough to send money home and survive in Doha, that's not a possibility.

GODSGRACE :

- I used to have a dog named STORM that I love very much. I got him from QAWS and he was my baby. Had to give him up though as I was in a very deep slump last year...and I can't afford to take care of him. I'm a QAWS supporter and still manage to feed some stray/street cats in our compound. Nowadays, 5 cats stays around the villa where I stay and adopted "me"..lol

Playing tennis...I have a filipino friend who does tennis training and we do play tennis when he and I have the same free time which is every Saturdays (planned)

YUP, I'm a few months shy from being 39 but I can't give advises/counsel...I'm still sorting myself out, so to speak. But I could always lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on :-)

I am also a member of the QL Volunteer Group and I do some things for the less fortunate people but I don't like people knowing it. It's something personal that I share with the people I help and the LORD.

XYNED: I never said I'm bored with DOHA. I am seeking what else left to do and experience. There's got to be something else to do and honestly, since I started this thread, I already have a list of what to do next and believe me, I'm getting excited and energized :-)

if u have done the above...then u could share your skills with others who cant afford to pay for it..

like i red above , u r gona play tennis...put an add around here for some free tennis clases...or charge somthing minimum for booking a court...

U seem to be as elderley matured person...counsel people on their probelms if any ..i m sure u have seen a lot in life....than many of them....

winters r almost here....buy ten blankets / or ten jackets and give it to some old poor labours .....

u seem to be a happening person...i have not done even half of yours....so find people liek me and show us how we can make our life fun like yours....

and if u still get bored then come to me....cozz....

Have been there for a couple of times and people going there with great expectations were disappointed most of the time. But you can consider a Nile Cruise as a good choice. There are boat/hotels sailing on Nile and you are traveling between Luxor and Aswan. Its a good chance to see new places like Valley of the kings, Valley of the Queen and even you can go till Abu Simbel if you want. Have tried one and I can say that it was the best experience for me in Egypt.

Safliya island is probably nice at this time of year. The Diplomatic Club will take you there are pick you up later for a reasonable price (especially if you go with friends and split the cost).

The Broadwalk on The Pearl has events going on at the moment (all free). Gotta be worth a trip there just to see what all the fuss is about, even if the entertainment isn't your sort of thing.

Hiring a tennis court at Khalifa Tennis Complex is pretty cheap.

Ice skating.

Join baldrick and his crew on a photographic evening.

Explore outside of Doha; north to Furawit(sp?), north west to the fort, west to Duhkan area.

You have probably done more than most folks in doha...but have you considered:

Sand boarding

Scuba Diving

Art & Photography Exhibitions

Racing on Losail circuit "in your car"

Live Football Matches

Dhow trip to banana island

Going to Ruwais to see Bahrain

The Pearl Boardwalk

Jazz nights

Rugby, Tennis & Badminton Socials

Para sailing

Random seminars and conferences for the free food

Gatecrash parties

Qatar Drama and Film Society

Grand Prix Athletics

Theres a lot more! The issue is in doha events are'nt advertised and usually one has to take the initiative to organise which is too much!

Also you do not necessarily need extra extra riyals to go to bahrain or dubai...the minimum expenditure is petrol and visa expense and thats it!!
