To Speed Read or Not...

Happy Happy
By Happy Happy

I understand our reading speed with full comprehension varies from one person to another, dependent on a variety of factors such as the page size, the nature of the material being read, the reader's alertness and more...

How many pages you normally read per hour?

For non-fiction/technical books, I can never bring myself up to more than 25-30 p/phr, tops.

Paperback novels, 85-90 pages per hour. Rest depends on the size of the page and how interested I am.

Last weekend I finished two novels of 865 & 758 pages.

Happy, I think it depends upon the purpose of reading. If one is reading for knowledge, he will read slowly understanding every word. If reading to pass time or entertainment, one can read very fast just to get the picture as to what it is about not caring to understand.

Visper, I read somewhere that the average reading speed is from 150-300 word/per minute.

That means a person could read 60 pages an hour?!

A novel's page size is usually smaller or less dense, maybe less than 250 words per page, right?
