AL Jazeera sports service as bad as it gets!

Qatarblue
By Qatarblue

I would just like to say well done to those in charge at AL Jazeera sport, after paying for my AL Jazeera Sport World cup package (Forced to through no other choice)and watching the sports tv director telling all that AL Jazeera want to show the World what they can do.

So after 4 years of preparation with the eyes of the world tuning in, the game kicks off and two minutes later screens are blank! the whole first half lost!

I wonder if they could use sand as a backdrop to add a bit of colour instead of showing a black screen?

In effect, this means, in my view, that they have NOT honoured my contract to show me all games live!Refunds in teh post no doubt to all.

I can just picture the World Cup in 2022 and the whole world tunes in to a sand effect screen. Well done to Qatars 'flagship' Satellite Channel: another fine eample of how things do noyt work!

I still haven't got my +9,+10 or WC channels to work. I took my receiver that I bought the card from and they got it to work this morning but all it doesn't work here at the house. Whenever I try and change the settings I just get this blue bar that says "Setting up the Bouquet information. Please wait" The guys from the shop pulled a no-show so yet another day goes by and this thing is still not working. Is my TV defective? Am I defective. Anyhoo, if there are any good TV technicians, or if anyone knows of any please let me know.

Right....I've managed to set up my decoder with the new frequencies from JSC's website (link below)...& it's working now.

Well , Imagine you are about to board a plane and a volcano has just erupted, how do you react towards the carrier ? No one has confirmed the reasons yet and according to my knowledge its very difficult to jam a high frequency signal, so people shouldn't be so prejudice.

By uglydude• 12 Jun 2010 15:16

HamadaCZ,

The grudge is quiet justified. The last WC we all paid 3 times more to watch the WC on ART, but not for a single day were there any pblms. But now, we face pblms from the 1st day onwards, and we basically are not sure if these pblms will continue when the BIG matches are on.

If someone can so easily hack/block the signal, then obviously they are not competent to broadcast the matches.

If Jazeera was showing these all the matches absolutely free, then none of us would have complained.

By hamadaCZ• 12 Jun 2010 14:01

I donno why the grudge against Qatar, but we shall wait and see.

This failure to broadcast properly is not AJ's fault, this is due to the illegal occupation of palestine by the zionists. As soon as Palestine is free then the services will improve in Qatar. Please people stop harassing Aj with your emails, if you have any issue with the service please contact your local embassy in Doha and express your disapproval of zionist aggression in the occupied lands.

Don't we all love Qatar because of these amateurs in charge? There are so many ways to go around rules and regulations just because of this. This is the freedom in Qatar. I dig it.

Raven1968

haha well said Pirate, bunch of friggin clowns, and unprofessional clowns at that, I love the way AJ said in the paper that it was beyond their control...LoL...of course having a decent firewall is not their responsibility...what a bunch of muppets

By the way we have people from all parts of the world here, has anyone ever heard a TV channel using hacking as an excuse, I surely haven't.

By anonymous• 12 Jun 2010 12:49

If they can't protect themselves against 'hackers' it only shows how stupid and clueless the Al Jazeera engineers are. I wish there was one single thing in this country done professionally. But I guess, it will remain a dream forever. Let's enjoy the freedom guys.

ugh.... I am so fed up... my AJS world cup channels are STILL NOT WORKING!!! Despite two trips to the shop where I bought the card from this morning... numerous calls to technicians to fix my satellite receiver - Al Jazeera Sports not answering telephone / emails to their call center.... enjoy my 700 rials guys! I really don't care about the money - the world cup is only once every four years.... Terrible, terrible customer service.

By hamadaCZ• 12 Jun 2010 09:15
hamadaCZ

I blame them for not informing the audience and answering their service desk in a timely fashion, but I can't blame them for the jamming part. Middle east is way behind when it comes to IT and Telco, although some of the finest engineers are working here, but when you are leasing a service its a different concept than when you own now, demarcation point has to be set.

By Raven1968• 12 Jun 2010 08:18
Raven1968

hamadaCZ the deliberate jamming was caused by someone hacking their firewall...in todays Gulf News AJ came out and said this was totally outside their control...was I'm sorry AJ but your firewall security is YOUR BLOODY RESPONSIBILITY, if they had any half decent encryption this wouldn't have happened...what a JOKE this broadcaster is...

By hamadaCZ• 11 Jun 2010 23:12
hamadaCZ

Here is the new package transponder on Nilesat 11240 Vertical, enjoy watching. This is a deliberate jamming according to Aljazeera news channel. more info on aljazeerasport website.

Al Jazeera's coverage was a fecking disaster, how embarrassing. They want to host the WOrld Cup but can't even provide coverage. I think 'expect chaos' is more fitting.

Whats the point of paying Wilkins and Venables all that money, they could have sat their swearing and scratching their privates for all we know.

By mishka• 11 Jun 2010 20:06

ugh! I am so annoyed I'll try not to use profanity here. I just spent 700 QR on an AJ Sports card last week but all I was getting was +1 to +8 when I put it in a couple of days but didn't complain or worry because I was told by the shop that this was normal and that AJ sports WC channels would be up and running by last night/this morning... and yet nothing! Basically I got all of the channels that are not showing the world cup!

Had to run over to the neighbors' who were watching on Mosaic.. what really annoys me here was a went to QTEL a couple of weeks ago to subscribe to the WC and they told me that their AJ package wasn't showing it! :-(

Of course it's Friday so nobody is answering phone calls - what a mess! Oh well, I guess there's always 2014.. :-S

hey rony79, you need to call the hotline in order for them to activate your card. I bought the card yesterday, and inspite of my numerous calls last night, nobody responeded.

I started calling today morning 7am and finally connected at 8am and got activation.

But whats the point? No signal for most of the duration of the game :(

By hamadaCZ• 11 Jun 2010 18:59

That is the transponder, you have to tune your STB to that frequency,H stands for Horizontal.

By hamadaCZ• 11 Jun 2010 18:31

Because they bought only a specific range of frequencies from each satellite service and something is jamming their signal on Nilesat, so if you can switch to Arabsat instead of Nilesat, you can enjoy the rest of the match. hopefully you have an STB, not a Qtel box :)
