Iran - Israel conflict

Aussieexpat

I think its pretty much on the horizon that there will be military conflict between Israel, US/UK and whoever else vs Iran.

Anyone else wonder what effect this will have on Qatar, especially with a large US Air and Land base here?
Personally, I believe despite, Iran, making assurances that it will not attack Qatar, Iran will use the excuse that US assets were used from Qatar and therefore Qatar is fair game in a war. Not to mention the possible use of Chemicals / biological weapons.

I think the world in 2012 will be a very different place, taking into account the wartime price of oil and its effect on a world economy already on the edge of the abyss.

What say all of you? Politics aside please. Only looking for legitmate opinions about the effect a Middleast War will have on Qatar particularly and the World in general.

And....it seems that people from countries that contribute the least to the international community have the most opinions on what everyone else should or shouldn't do. Talk is cheap.

they may be, for the time being. is it worth the risk to find out if they really are or not? Qatar will be one of the first to find out.

has nothing to do with being a muslim country (North Korea isn't muslim), has everything to do with what Iran will do with it once they have it. There is a lot more involved with having nuclear weapons than just nuking your enemy. One has to consider long term safety and security of the weapons to prevent them from falling in the wrong hands as well as having the ability to respond to a radioactive accident, all of which Iran falls desparately short of.

their weapons their country and their people.. what UN, US, UK have to do with them, how many missiles, anti aircraft missiles are present with Taliban? which are american, Russian, Israeli and Indian made, did anyone blame these countries..?

Why only a Muslim country? if they can keep nuclear weapons why not muslim country then? either every country should dispose their all nuclear weapons, or leave the others also to make it.

same situation with South Korea, US is always threatening them..

biased observation, basing on a news clippings. For argument sake, if they (the west and it's allies) really wanted nuclear-free world, then they should also dismantle their own missile storage.

Iran explosion at Revolutionary Guards military base.

A local resident said the sound of the blast was "deafening"

Seventeen soldiers have been killed this week in an explosion at a military base near Iran's capital Tehran, officials say.

Honestly why take the trouble to attack Iran. Just let the Iranians do it themselves just like the libyans did to their guy and then the americans and Nato can provide air cover and blockade their ports and use the UN as and when required for legal cover

By bashace• 6 Nov 2011 13:10

They are calculated risks, every possible scenario is gone over many times before they make such a commitment. There are some they hope will not happen and others happen just as they planned. The US doesn't want to attack Iran, but they will defend an ally. None of the current wars were mistakes, either way they would of happened at some point. If it wasn't for the wars, the US economy would be much worse than it is now, every bullet, bomb, missile, uniform, medical supply, tank, etc. has millions of americans working jobs to keep the war effort moving. Basic economics, war is good for the economy.

lets wait for the time.. lets wait for america's another mistake, but one question, why they want to attack Iran?

By Good old joe• 5 Nov 2011 22:49

As for their missiles I doubt they are very accurate and they might land in Afghanistan, Pakistan or the Sea instead of Israel

By bashace• 5 Nov 2011 22:41

The wars that the US/UK may have lost in the recent past were political losses, militarily they destroyed their enemies militaries in record time. There is currently no military in the world today that could defeat or defend against a US/UK coalition (why do you think China doesn't just take Taiwan back by force), especially a country that ranks way down in the military strength list. The last thing an Iranian pilot wants to hear (as the Iraqi pilots found out, most of their fighters exploded midair just after takeoff thanks to US F-15's)is "cleared for takeoff", so I wouldn't be concerned about their aircraft being effective for anything (the US already owns the skies in the countries surrounding Iran). Launching a weapon of mass destruction on a missile would be suicide for Iran, so I highly doubt they would actually do it. The best option for Iran would be for the people to rise up and overthrow their crazy government, that way the innocent only have to endure civil unrest instead of being bombed back to the stone age.

By Good old joe• 5 Nov 2011 20:34
Good old joe

The less said about Iran the better. It would be better for Iran first to respect its own people and release all those political prisoners locked up without a trial. Their missiles, planes and military is just another sham like that of Libya or Iraq and god alone knows whether their planes and missiles can even live the launchpad. As for nuclear weapons I would not be suprised if they get blown up in the middle of Tehran rather then in Israel or the USA.

Let us wait for results then... US helped Saddam a lot in start against Kuwait war/Iran war. america help the opposition against Ahmad also.. at every point they are trying to stop Iran. Iraq and Iran cases are not same...

By ingeniero• 5 Nov 2011 15:47

Abraham, well i will say that one should not underestimate Iran at least...

Irani president have support of its own people, and secondly they did several missile test, which were all succeeded, and for US/UK, its not the same, they didn't win any war in last decades, so they don't have a high moral at the position.

though Iran can't hit or fight longer with america, but they can hit at least there base camps nearby, and secondly a best option for them is Israel, if they did something with Israel, what we expect/need more from Iran.

By ingeniero• 5 Nov 2011 15:43
ingeniero

i think no one should underestimate Iran at the moment, because no one knows how much and which kinda weapons/missiles Iran currently having.. because they have support of many countries who are somehow enemies of US/UK/Israel... though Gulf is against Iran also.. but gulf doesn't matter for Qatar at moment..

Iran have supporters against US/UK/Israel. though if they attack Qatar, they will make a life time enemies in Gulf, but this the best option/nearest point they got.

here is the Gulf largest american base, plus israel is the country states are defending for last few decades. so hitting Qatar and Israel will be options for them..

Now though they will face a lot of problems and hard time against these four countries, since they are surrounded by all side, Afghanistan, Seaside, then Saudi Arabia, Israel can hit them by long distance missiles, but in response they will get also,

well I wish that they do not attack Qatar, even if its an american base..

but for Israel, i support, and wish them all best wishes..

GO IRAN GO...

Hand everyone in Doha a nice Wrist Rocket slingshot that way they can just shoot the missiles down themselves...jk. If they attack Doha, they will be targeting the air base which is far enough from the city that even big misses will probably land in the desert. Iran would have less than 12 hours of operational capability to do anything with their military before the coalition would own them, they would have to call back all their insurgents from Iraq to come defend them. I am more concerned on what Israel will do, I'm sure they would love to have a reason to nuke their neigbors.

By ingeniero• 5 Nov 2011 11:07

Iran already told before that, in case of attack from US, they will hit Israel and Qatar first, all their Missiles can hit any place in Israel and Qatar,

in case of attack we are in danger for sure.
