Ask for minimum Qr.3000 or more as transportation allowance,If they agrees then from any part of Qatar if you travel then it will be sufficient.(This is based as per you have your own car not the rented one)
Take all the allowances and spend less or more. It is up to you. If you spend less you can save more from the allowances and if you spend more then you have to add from your basic salary. If they are paying the allowance they will not ask for presenting your bills.
then, if the 'house allowance' is QR 20,000 and you only spend QR 16,000, you just cash in the QR 4,000 without any problem?
If that is so, then I was thinking this allowance stuff wrongly. I though you were bound to spend the allowance money in the allowance subject, otherwise you loose that allowance.
I have not seen anywhere a clear explanation of the whole allowance concept.
Please confirm/correct me if my interpretation is right/wrong.

Housing is slightly different. Some companies want to see a tenancy agreement, but most don't. Check with your HR.
For 95% of people there is nothing specific about how they are to use their allowances. They just have it added to their salary each month.

Allowances are separate from your basic salary - bonuses, end of service benefit etc, are all calculated on your basic (not total) salary.
So by having lots of allowance, this means the employer doesn't have to pay as much to you when calculating your payouts.
then why is 'transportation allowance' and not just part of the salary?
I guess you mean it is for any of the two, gas or car payment. Is that right?
for whatever you want - even spend it on groceries and then walk to work.
depends on the car u want to buy and distance you travel.
