TRANSPORT ALLOWANCE...300 riyal?
just wanted to ask what is the average transport allowance in qatar.??
I just had a car loan from the bank and i pay almost 3000 riyal every month.
thats because i borrowed the money from my company,
for the -down payment of the car loan- and i have to pay 2,000 riyal per month for the next 10 months.
and also 1000 to the bank.
i have heard from some of my friends that they get around 1000 riyal per month.
>>now my problem is my company only gives me -300 riyal- per month. (which i only knew after i had the loan BTW)<<
i travel exactly 30kms per day back and forth. and sometimes passing by the mall to buy my employers necessities.
i personally don't think this is right. because i work during week ends and i dont have fix working hours as we are working whenever he wants to come and enjoy.
when i asked them why? they simply said "if you dont like it just use the company service again, nobody told you to take a car", which is always late if not coming at all.
WHAT TO DO? please advise.
I know where you are coming from, the convenience of having your own ride is always a preference instead of daily commute. The mistake here is not having all the information before sealing the deal but that is too late now. All you can do is decide if you can afford the car or not, if yes then by all means keep it but do not think that you were cheated in any way its a learning curve for you and for all let us always think before we act and analyze if we have the resources to do it in the long term because if not then we will be in a more difficult situation than before...just my 2 cents
My friend the problem is in you which is very transparent from your statement
"I cant loose the car, now first i fell in love
with it already and secondly its a huge relief"
since you decided to keep the car with you have the courage to face the consequences too. However as for me i will never suffer with anything that i can't afford.
Anyway best of luck, do the proper math atleast this time ...
it's still the same thing...as Ms. Mandi says, no matter what other ways there is to save yourself from worrying and no matter how stupid you'll look like would be spending more than you could able to be.. you will not forgo the convenience (if you can call worrying a convenience) of having a car roaming around doha and being ahead with your friends...you just can't afford it and you want your boss to subsidize your lifestyle.
Miss Mandi, if you please! And I knew to the PENNY how much my transportation allowance was before I bought a car. And how much that car would be when amortized over 3.5 years. It doesn't matter how much you get or don't, it only matters how much you spend. The whole point is to spend less than you get, can we agree? And if you tell me you didn't know and didn't bother to find out what your allowance was before you bought the car then I shall think less of you. And I don't consider your inconvenience a big issue for your boss to subsidize. I commuted for ten years a thousand miles to work. If the plane was late, that was MY problem! Many's the night I spent in New York because I couldn't get home that night. Anyway, have your tried asking him for more? Taking the bus? Carpooling by taxi? I understand loving a car, I just don't understand asking someone else to subsidize it.
Mandi
they simply said "if you dont like it just use the company service again, nobody told you to take a car"
This means, You made a stupid decision!
How come you get a loan without asking anybody?
Also, you made this decision to make your transport comfortable, but you didn't think the other consequences.
Kabayan, think before you act.
mr BILBER, its not exactly a ''company'' service sir, he uses his personal driver to pick us up, so if he needs to send the driver to go buy ice cream we need to wait for a couple of hours before we can go home.
and yes, I did a mistake, i only assumed that he would give me a bit more.
first of all mister mandi, please read my post thoroughly second of all i don't think waiting for 2 hours most of the time after your working hours is not really what you would call a proper company transport.
now im not complaining, im simply asking what to do?
but i don't think you realize my situation, because you are an american and people in this country loves you. you must have a good job and a good salary, where you don't care about your car allowance.
how come you didn't know how much the supposed transport allowance will be before you decided to buy a car? It seems to me you didn't do any math but fall into believing that owning a car is having an advantage than everybody else.
The problem is you not your company or your boss...if it is a group transport then you're not the only one suffering from being late...you are desperately wants to drive a car around so no matter how much the transport allowance will be..you will not let your car go.
Your boss says use the company service but you keep insisting to have a car instead..why blaming them?
Let me get this right, you had company transportation but you decided to get a car and now you are complaining because the cost of the car you chose is more than your employer told you the allowance would be? Sheesh! It doesn't matter what the average transportation allowance is - and i'd guess it's something close to zero anyway - it matters what YOU agreed on!
Mandi
cant give up the car now sir, yes i did made a mistake... but i cant loose the car now first i fell in love with it already and secondly its a huge relief to know that i dont have to wait for hours waiting for transport to come because the boss told him to buy ice cream.
Im filipino BTW, but i have lots of sri lankan friends.
First thing its your mistake taking loan without a clear picture of your company's policies & terms. you commited things based on assumption.
As of now you just have once choice, talk to them to reconsider the allowance or just use their so called transportation. Dealy or late arrival to work just blame it on them.
Finally if nothing works out and you aren't able to afford just transfer your car ownership to someone who's in need of a car and let them complete the remaining installments with the bank...
btw your name sound's like srilankan ? just asking , wait for other QLER's to respond too.
