Can vodafone sell any working number?

I have been using a vodafone number for 2years. Last time i went to vodafone to change it into pospaid. But after three days, they sold my number to some one .When i have gone to vodafone, they said it is a technical problem. I have told them to return my number, one week passed, but no any solution yet. In this case, what should i do?
