Afghanistan after 2014
So what have we been doing there ?
Does this mean that the troops should stay ?
What is the answe ?
A new report on Afghanistan warns that the departure of Nato forces in 2014 could be followed by the government's collapse and even civil war, unless steps are taken now.
The International Crisis Group (ICG) says the Afghan police and army are unprepared for security responsibility.
It added that polls in two years' time would be "plagued" by fraud unless the state acted to ensure a clean vote.
Source: BBC
The Afghan government labelled the predictions "nonsense and garbage".
civilization??
the way they bombed 'Bamiyan Buddha Statues' of great civilization importance, I wonder any1 can still claim an iota of civilization there?
General Dostum is acually a very nice guy who only wants the best for his people..
The funny part is this crazy lunatics who go by the name of the Taleban think they can have all the fun while the others have to go about as per their dictates on what is right and wrong. No wonder the americans kept their warlords well supplied with double doses of Viagra
Not confused my friend, just the facts. The poor afghans have been stuck n the middle of competing powers for the last few hundred years. A civilisation of little importance but a country of strategic importance due to its location. The poor afghans have had to suffer from superpowers, UK, USSR and USA and also from deranged religious lunatics. I guess at least the superpowers just killed them, the religious idiots tortured and made ordinary lives a misery before they died or were murdered.
all the "u" are problem USA.. UK..USSR..United kerala
oh and babu...now don't act as if YOU can up with United Kerala...;P
And then there are the "stans"......:o
So , the Soviet was invited into Afghnistan?
USSR or USA. The simple fact is that each had an agenda when entering Afghanistan.
One moment a faction is pro-liberation , another it's labeled as anti-reform..
QDCL, you've confused knowledge of history, but I wont blame you for that, that's outcome of incessant western outlook on USSR being devil.
note, there's difference between invited forces & invaders;
Panther, you know little of history. The Soviet Union helped install a communist govt in Kabul, when it was in danger of collapse they had to go in to save their pride. However you are right many were reluctant to do this.
always in news for wrong reasons.
Except their cricket team may have some talent but need fine tuning and training.
Mike....brain is very flexible organ, with correct approach, education, information and knowledge one could easily get influenced and brought to right path.
who says Soviets invaded them (well, thanks to western media), fact is they're invited (begged actually to safeguard against uprising) by then president Taraki, kosygin like Brezhnev were dead against for sending ground troops or full fledged operations, but thanks to Coldwar fear psychosis, Afganistan ended up as play ground of big players (war mongers).
on life there, no social changes as such, earlier they use to fight with sticks now with Kalashnikovs.
life ?? i wish they cld live but so many got killed and still now every now n then by drone attacks
I do not know anything about the Afghanistan BEFORE the Soviet tried to invade.
What was life for women there at that time and before as to compared to now?
true u mean abt ones who invaded afghanistan but they dont have brains
How can you brainwash someone who's already been brainwashed?
Thats really unfortunate, their ideologies to be removed.
They are a law unto themselves..
They will just create another group in another place with another name to start another conflict :O)
and no law and order for the ones who create the jihadis
To bring Law and Order is the prime objective for the Afghan Government.
Disarm all jihadis and bring them to adult schools to brain wash and rehabilitate.
The world should help the people of Afghanistan to make the country a better place for its people and children so they can move forward like the rest of the world.
this may also start happening,
closing girls' schools & Baby malala type incidents,
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2216288/Pakistani-girl-Malala-Yousafzai-shot-Taliban-promoting-Western-values-moved-secure-military-hospital-authorities-offer-10million-rupee-reward-attacker.html
do they care for the policies Uncle Sam's foot
from Afghanistan case to prepare an Exit strategy prior entering into Lions den.
To leave in worsen conditions will give a bad reputation to US foreign policies.
CIA was formed by the top ranked Nazis... they are continuing Hitler's Dream.
Next after Syria should be Turkey... !
All countries having vast OIL resources will be mugged.... gas countries will not be...war machinery (planes, tanks, trucks, is heavily Oil dependent)
So its a viscious cycle... the more oil is used... more there will be invasion of the oil producing countries... to invade there has to be internal strife or riots or civil war... which can be engineered... Nazis were good in that...lol
Insha'Allah ..
Exxonmobil has just start exploring the vast gas and oil reserves in the North of Afghanistan. Where there is oil it is of vital and strategic interest of the western world to be there. Where there is no oil like Syria leave them on their own accord..:) just a thought!
They did not wait to go into Libya did they?
Who created talibaan's ??? and the answer is americans created them to enter the country . America is the only country who cannot see anyone in peace. Now tell me the drone attacks where the whole families are killed in some seconds if any one member is left what will be his aim definately to kill those who killed his whole family without any reason.........instead of solving problem they are increasing problems ........God will bring disasters by himself and teach america a great lesson not to interfere other countries.
That could mean ISAF staying for another ten years. Time to go home and let the Afghans sort out their own affairs.
History repeats, those in hidden caves will be back in power.
The controls (law and order) should be in place prior departure of NATO forces.
In 2015 Afghanistan might become a part of the USA and then the Afghans will not need visas to enter the USA. You might not find many people left in Kandhahar as all of them will be well settled by that time in Washington and New orleans leaving Afghanistan to the americans and Nato forces to provide security cover for their homes while they are away visitng Uncle Sam
lol true :)
if not in 2014, by 2016 taliban will come back to power for sure; and in between we'll see major turbulence.
painther u need the above to be approved by U.S
outsiders can't control/govern them at all. those are the different tribes, they'll kill n die for their honor (good n bad whatever for rest of world).
i guess only good solution will be to unite pashtoons of Pak & afganistan and make a new country; let northern Afghanistan/uzbegs etc. remain separately;this will only guarantee no clashes in future.
..but thank god nobody follows me :)
once upon a time US was a welcome guest there n CIA was a brotherly organization. Those were the days in summer of 79-80 to late 80's.
10million refugees to the neighbouring countries the biggest in the history. Most of them never went back and now causing problem to the country that hosted them.
no i think from 2001 till date and LOL they found him in pakistan and drown him into the sea LOL
US achieved, what they thought was a convincing victory against Russia (USSR) in cold war and left. Mujahideen and war lords were left to fight for power with no central government. Mujahideen succeedeed in attaining the control, and the rest is history.
Yes MM they were actively looking to recruit him for their cause to fight the cold war against the USSR.
He was one of their top Commanders and he had many meetings with the CIA Agents during the 80's..:)
The US was looking for OBL in the 80's?
Why did these best friends and darlings of the West so called Mujahideen became their enemies and wanted terrorist
The just turned around to bite the hand which was feeding them.
who created Al qaeda ?
Who sponsored the Mujahideen?
Who in the name Jihad assembled all the trouble makers of the Middleast in Afghanistan, be it OBL or Abu Hamza. Who created the Talibaan.
Why did these best friends and darlings of the West so called Mujahideen became their enemies and wanted terrorist
Miss mimi who went playing hide n seek in the name of OBL USSR ?
QDCLover aka MIMH...
Its a long and un-ending discussion, who breeded the Talibans (ex-Beloved Mujhadeen).
My opnion, let Afgans decide their fate. Let it by killing each other, tribal alliance or any other mean.
DP
Only time will tell.
QDCLover. Taliban do not represent all the people of Afghanistan just like Hilter doesn't represent all the Germans.
A graveyard of empires, Afghanistan will not change much in two years, as it has not changed much in many centuries. It has remained a place of warlike Afghans who have been impossible to conquer in the past and still remain unconquered. The foreign troops will leave and their departure would only mark another failed attempt to achieve anything in Afghanistan.
The country is as lawless now, if not more, as it has always been throughout the history.
The only thing that hurts me is the huge loss of human life and enormous wealth in the failed Afghan cause. If Russia and US had not started their proxy war in Afghanistan, there would have been no Taliban, and I dare say, no OBL. So many lives could have been spared in the world trade center, Afghanistan and many other places in the world.
The resources which Afghanistan has consumed, and still is consuming, are not insignificant. Just imagine the same wealth and human expertise which today is being expended in Afghanistan, if had been spent in another cause, for instance research and technology, how better would the world must have been.
The first decade of the twenty-first century was indeed a most unfortunate one. The United States got caught up in a war which consumed so much. Just imagine how things could have been different had this money and decade been spent in a war against diabetes mellitus, HIV and many other ugly diseases. At least, we could have hoped a more certain victory in that war. In the Afghan war, it is more of a deadlock than anything else.
Let us pray that the 2nd decade is not the same as the first one. Let us hope that wars come to an end, and let us hope that humanity find other productive ways to engage itself in. I wish I could see in my life humankind win the war against disease and suffering.
I believe it was the USSR, not the US, who originally invaded Afghanistan BG.
At least the Afghans can get back to smoking opium and chillaxing without interfernce. Plus the executions in the main stadium in Kabul have been badly missed by all.
They just need the all of the Afghans from different factions to form the old Alliances and respect each and live in Peace according to their tribal values and customs.
that's the case, and nothing changed I am afraid with this 11 years (and counting) of 'War on Terror'.
Pre-Russia (USSR) Afghanistan was very much peaceful and beautiful.
yeah it was since 80's or before no one is safe from the U.S
"Economy is fragile, security is none. No one is safe, nor the Afghanis nor the ISAF."
Hasn't that been the case in Afghanistan since the 80's?
There is one major achievement - Arms sales have gone up :O(
achieved, I/many still have to figure out.
You can see some development in Green Zone of Kabul, rest of the country is in shambles.
Economy is fragile, security is none. No one is safe, nor the Afghans nor the ISAF.
I personaly believe that the ICG is going way over the top. Yes there will be initial hiccups, but things will soon settle down.
The world will be a happier place when Afghans earn the right again to kill Afghans without interference from foreigners. Time for all ISAF forces to leave!
Dying by the hands of a fellow Afghan is the prefered choice of the Afghans, lets respect their choice to self determination.
The world will be a happier place when Afghans earn the right again to kill Afghans without interference from foreigners. really was it the same in Iraq and Libya
even if Out from Afghan they will have a "next" destiny to invade ha,ha
Afghan are a proud nation and will survive.
I truly believe that once these so called ISAF is out it will be more peace in the region.
