Oh dears! Was that a serious question?

Of course you will very very cozy here!

1350QR a WEEK is an HUGE amount of money.

Engineers here get around 12000 QR a Month.

You will feel as cozy as your home if you meet the right people ;)

You'll definitively enjoy life here.

How some answers are really stupid.

Why ?

Just ask everyone around you how much they get monthly ?

Me : 8000 QR and i'm from Europe too..

Too many people here in Qatar still hungry and working like slaves and you talk how $170 per day is not enough ?

For what ? Spending each hour in club ? Yes it's not..

Otherwise 750 x 30 = 22500$ x 3.65 = 82125 QR

Ofcourse he will get accomodanton even if not he can find some for 6000QR and plis car around 2500QR..

Other is enough for saving and little spending.

Just remember how many poeple in Qatar working for less then 1000 QR...

Less...

It's not enough if you only work one day in a month!

To simplify your calculus I would consider living costs here to be comparable to living in New York or London. The exception is that you will need at least one car, and two if your wife doesn't want to sit home all day. Once Maersk takes over your housing, you will indeed be living well. Although, to put this in perspective the asian service workers here make about US$3-400 per month.

Hi, thanks for the reply Igxgo.

It is with Maersk oil, and it is a contract role which should go permanant in 6 months time.

The offices are based in West Bay, if I go permanant I would get housing and transport.

regards

Matt

For a job paying US$170K per year, I would expect your employer to provide some other perks, or is this a cash-only position? What about housing, healthcare, transportation, etc. You can figure housing will cost ~US$6,000/month to stay in a nice compound or high-rise - perhaps more with furnishings. What about transportation to and from your home country and relocation/mobilization costs? For the hassle alone of getting your residency docs in order, you should be sure your company provides a support system.
