Could this be the solution to West Bay's traffic problems?

Architecture and engineering consultancy firm, KEO International Consultants have suggested to Ministry of Municipality and Urban planning to adopt a more complex, but effective road system for West Bay Doha than the one in place right now.

This is could be a long-term plan to accomodate the rapidly increasing traffic in the heart of the capital city. However, the amount of construction required and expenses could be a major hurdle for the government.

Doha News reports that the project could take up to three years to complete, which could cause major disruptions in an area that's already busy, and cost up to QAR 8 billion.

Nothing is concrete regarding this ambitious project, but it is certain that the Qatar government will not shelve this plan right away.

For now, let's just watch the video and you folks let us know what you think of this project. Could it be the answer to West Bay's peak-time traffic woes?

Lacking a lot of pedestrian bridges and/or underpass, no proper public transport integration etc... But for GCC it's not that bad it seems.

I'm sure it can be done. I am very impressed with what they have done to Salwa road. It looks fantastic and places along Salwa are now easily accessible. Good job to everyone involved there. A good point you make samun. After 2022 Doha will have some of the world's best roads but they could potentially be empty when everyone goes home. I am still holding out hope for a state-of-the-art public transport system, though.

They may present the best of concept and for that is their job, but its upto the the ministry to decide the best suit. Whats next after 2022 ? Come on yallaaaaas wake up .

Government should study what other small countries are doing for effective transport solutions. Small places like Singapore, Hong Kong, Toyko, Seoul, they all have great public transport and traffic levels are strictly controlled by government. Everyone is happy. Spend money for reasonal solutions and not just build and build!

Govt. Should promote public transport. Mass transit is the best solution for traffic congestion problem. But the rich Country like qatar, they are more interested in expanding rather than solving ;)...

"However, the amount of construction required and expenses could be a major hurdle for the government".... for the richest country? - it's not a problem at all!
