Is it Ethical to exploit the costumers?
Hundreds of people have been deserted by an officials of an Airline Company from whom they purchased ticket in advance to travel homes during the summer vacation. They purchased ticket in advance (6 months before) from the Emirates Airlines to travel to Calicut from Doha to escape from the sky rocketing travel fare which usually experiences in the months of June and July in Gulf- Kerala sector. When it was revealed that the Emirates flight to Calicut International Airport has been cancelled due to the partial closure of the Airport for maintenance, passengers reasonably expect that the Emirate would follow the path of other Airline Companies especially the Saudi Airlines to support the desperate customers. The Saudi Airlines rescheduled and transferred the tickets to the Cochin airport to help the passengers who already purchased ticket from them to travel to Calicut. Passenger’s expectation was the Emirates will reschedule and transfer the passengers to nearest airports. . The officials at Doha Emirates office acted in most irresponsible and arrogant way when the passengers placed their reasonable demand. Their request was to reschedule and transfer our tickets to nearby airports. Passengers believe that their demand was reasonable due to different options available to the Emirate to help the desperate customers. One option is to operate with small flights which have no restriction in Calicut Airport. Second option is to transfer our ticket to nearest Airports such as Cochin, Trivandrum and Bangalore. Third option is to divert the flight which is scheduled to Calicut Airport to the nearest Airport like Cochin, Coimbatore etc:-. Instead of considering passenger's reasonable and justifiable demand, officials at Emirate Doha office demanding to get the ticket refunded and make re booking by paying current market prize which are not affordable to many. The current market prize is three times higher than the prize in which passengers purchased ticket. If the Emirate Company is not taking a favorable decision, many would be deprived of their dream to visit our aging parents and other relatives during this vacation. Is it an ethical act?
