Qatar Rail launches the third season of its Ramadan Football League
Al Muhannadi: We are very grateful for the hard work and effort our team has put into realising Qatar Rail projects during the past year. Today, we are pleased to host this football league to strengthen ties and show appreciation to everyone’s contribution.
As part of its continuous efforts to foster social bonds among its staff, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) launched the third season of the Qatar Rail Football League (QRFL), as a token of appreciation for the efforts of its employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
This year, the QRFL comes as part of Qatar Rail’s social initiative “This Ramadan: a simple thank you” dedicated to the company's workers who are invited to attend the football matches and experience a great time with friends filled with cheer and prizes. Thanks to the success of the past two years, this year’s tournament is the biggest, gathering 18 skilled teams from Qatar Rail’s management, employees, contractors and partners.
The tournament seeking to celebrate the month of goodness and giving with promoting the spirit of sportsmanship and solidarity among Qatar Rail’s family, saw an exciting kick off on June 19th at Qatar Sports Club.
Commenting on the activity, Qatar Rail’s CEO, Eng. Saad Al Muhannadi, said:
“There is no better time than Ramadan to meet together in good spirits. Activities, such as the QRFL, give us the opportunity to gather, enhance internal communication and boost team spirit among Qatar Rail’s staffs, management and project partners. We are very grateful for the hard work and effort our team has put into realising Qatar Rail projects during the past year. Today, we are pleased to host this football league to strengthen ties and show appreciation to everyone’s contribution”.
Participating teams are divided into four groups, who will compete to reach the finals on July 10th. Group A consists of Doha Metro, Systems PMC, Red Line North-ISG and DB International, while Group B gathers 4 other teams including Qatar Rail, Green Line PMC, Lusail LRT Project and LBER JV. In parallel, Group C involves 5 teams including the Gold Lions-ALYSJ, Green Line-PSH JV, Grey Doha, Red Line PMC and QR United, who will play against Group D players from QBC, Red Lions, SOQ-JV, Elevated and Long Distance. All groups were named after Qatar Rail projects, transferring the atmosphere of professional competition to the playing ground. On Friday and Saturday, the first 8 games witnessed a great challenge; Red Line North ISG – Doha Metro – Qatar Rail – Lusail LRT Project - Green Line PSH- Red Line PMC- and Elevated have bagged the win while Red Lions and QBC match ended by 2-2 draw.
