CONVERT ON ARRIVAL TOURIST VISA TO FAMILY RESIDENCE VISA
One of my colleague's family (wife and daughter) entered in Qatar on an on arrival 30 day tourist visa. (They have British passports hence on arrival tourist visa granted for 30 days.) Is it possible to transfer tourist visa to family residence visa. If, so what are the procedures? Alternatively can we extend the tourist visa for further period? Your early valuable reply would be appreciated.
Once you have secured family visa:
On-Arrival Visa, Visit Visa or Tourist Visa
All above type of visas, can be changed to the RP without exiting Qatar.
You need to go to Gharafah Immigration Service center
Building 1 - Ground Floor
First, go to the main reception, tell them your family is already here on visit visa and you need to convert this to family visa.
He will send you to the first room beside the reception on his left.
The officer will make the change of visa on his computer, it won't take more than few mins. afterwards he will ask you to take the token from reception and goto the service counters to pay the fee of 500/passport. ( this saves you from exiting the Qatar which will probably be double in charges.
Remember to print a copy of your new visa, original passport and ATM card to pay at the reception.
I learnt this the hard way, running between gate 1, gate 2, 2nd floor, different receptions etc etc, this might help someone.
Good Luck

Thank you very much syednizam. very useful information. Appreciated your feedback.
1) On arrival tourist visa can be renewed for one more month, to do this they need to visit any Immigration in the morning hours and pay QAR 100 for each passport and extend for one more month.
2) Parallel to this, the sponsor (Husband) need to submit family residence visa application at Immigration with the following documents:
a) Duly filled application form;
b) NOC and salary certificate letter from his current sponsor;
c) Attested labor contract copy from his current sponsor company;
d) 6 months bank statement showing the salary transfers from his current company;
e) Marriage certificate attested from Qatar Embassy from home country & Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar;
f) Birth Certificate of daughter attested from Qatar Embassy from home country & Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar;
g) Sponsor (husband) Qualification (Degree /or Diploma) attested certificate;
h) Copy of tenancy contract.
In above list normally documents a,b&c will be provided by the company HR Admin department or by PRO on request.
h) Apart from the above documents, the minimum salary of the salary should be QAR 10,000 per month to get the approval otherwise the application will be rejected.
Once the above documents is complete and submitted at Immigration, he will get a tracking receipts from Immigration to track the visa approvals online (normally it takes 2-3 weeks for residence visa applications) in MOI website. Once it is approved, go back to immigration and pay visa fee QAR 200 for each application and also pay QAR 500 for each to transfer the on arrival visa status to residence entry visa and once this done, the family needs to go to medical commission and finish medical and wife need to complete finger print and then stamp the residence visa at passport.
The company PRO should be able to explain all this procedures to your friend, ask him to contact the sponsor PRO for documents and for any help required during this process.
My experience says, only family visit visa for spouse and children are allowed to be converted into Family residence visa.
Sorry wengdoha2015, not clear enough. Need exact procedures.

I arrived doha on visit visa and on the process of converting my visa to residence visa. the immigration asked for my passport and my husband's residence id, salary certificate not below 10,000 riyals and his passport too. its not us actually doing the processing a good friend doing it on our behalf. hope this might give u a bit of idea.
