UN Court rejects UAE claim against Qatar

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), UN's highest court, has rejected a request by the United Arab Emirates for immediate measures to be imposed on Qatar over alleged racial discrimination between the two nations.

The decision was announced earlier today, weeks after the UAE forced the pause in the main court process to stop Qatar from blocking access to a UAE website. The website let Qataris expelled from UAE to attain permits to return.

According to UAE claims, not allowing access to the site meant Qatar was prolonging the dispute.

At the World Court, Qatar underlined that the site was blocked because it posed a state security threat due to "malware" coded within that was designed to infiltrate the Gulf state's security systems.

Judges at the court rejected the UAE application by a 15-1 majority. They also declined a request for Doha to drop a similar case at a UN anti-discrimination committee.

Mohamed Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, Qatar's representative to the ICJ, said it welcomed the rejection of the "groundless" UAE request.

"Qatar brought this case to protect the Qatari people against the UAE's policy and practice of racial discrimination. It is the Qatari people who are the victims here, and not the government of the UAE," said Al Khulaifi.

The main case revolves around the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain, along with the UAE, were among the siege countries that imposed an illegal blockade on Qatar in June 2017. Among these countries, the UAE is the only signatory of the convention, and so the case is only between signatories Qatar and the UAE.

Earlier in July 2018, the top UN court had ordered UAE to allow Qatari families living in the Emirates to be reunited with their relatives back home and let Qatari students forced to quit their study programs in the UAE continue their studies.

"Great news but also great effort by Qatari representatives in ICJ"

At least now these blockade countries should understand the power of Truth and power of majority which Qatar has of 15/1.

Great News... keep it up Qatar.. we all are with you.
