The Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar has set a new Guinness Global Record for the ‘Most Nationalities Planting Trees at the Same Time’, adding to Qatar's long collection of world records.

Alan Pixsley and Louise Toms, official adjudicators for Guinness World Records, reported that the overall number of nationalities who participated in the tree-planting ceremony organized by the committee on Saturday, October 9, on Dukhan Road was 66.

The event is part of the "Qatar Beautification and Our Kids Planting Trees" initiative, which was established in 2019 in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality with the goal of planting a million trees.

Participants from each nationality planted one tree for five minutes straight, following precise processes that were videotaped by cameras set up on site to analyze the planting process and ensure compliance with Guinness World Records rules.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality, the committee launched the initiative to help increase green spaces and trees in the country and give fresh air for desert areas along the roadways.

This initiative is regarded as a cornerstone in developing environmental values in individuals and schools by educating them about the importance of tree-planting. Until now, around 550,000 trees have been planted.

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, Côte D'Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya ,Mali, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, PERU, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Senegal, Singapore, Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen were among the countries that took part in the tree-planting event.
