The First Month Of Islamic Calendar...
It's the beginning of a new Islamic year!
The first month of Islamic calendar is Muharram.....Today is Muharram 1, 1431 AH of Islamic calendar and according to the Gregorian calendar it is Dec.18, 2009.
According to the Qur'an this month is among those four months of the year in which fighting is prohibited.
According to a saying of Prophet Mohammad PBUH fasting during the month of Muharram is the most highly valued fast, after the fast of the month of Ramadan...so Muslim fast in this month, especially on the 9th and 10th day of Muharram.
Importance of the month of Muharram.
*i-Ordinance of fasting of the month of Ramadan was issued to all Muslims in Muharram 2 AH.
*ii-In this month Hazrat Imam Husayn was martyred
*iii-Muharram is the month when prophet Moses and the children of Israel were saved from the king of Egypt the Pharoah and his force.
*iv-Ethiopian general Abraha attacked on mecca in 525 AD with elephants and his whole force was destroyed by birds(ababeels) it was the month of Muharram.
*v- Adam and Eve(Hawwa) the father and mother of all human beings were created in Muharram.
*vi-The great flood of Prophet Noah was cleared in this month.
