Pakistan reviews passport validity period of 10 years
Dubai: The Pakistan government will soon increase the validity of passports from five years to 10 years - a move that will come to the aid of the overseas community.
"The passport validity [period] will be increased from five years to 10 years soon to meet the long standing demand [of Pakistanis based overseas]," said Tasneem Ahmad Quraishi, Minister of State for Interior.
Speaking to reporters during his tour of the passport section at the Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai on Sunday, Quraishi said that the 10-year validity period was important because it would help reduce applicants' trips to passport offices in the country and at the missions abroad.
