Everyone to be treated equally

past 3 years i have been visiting to hamad health center in wakra - nr mac donald roundabout, to my surprise, my last visit day before yesterday for an eye infection, i had to wait 2 hours to just see a doctor,  (not forgetting to mention i am 8 month pregnant ) and to add to my surprise, the local residents were given the token number even if they arrived after me, i was treated like as if i did not existed. also, no consideration that i was waiting in front of the counter with my HMC card and the lady didnot give me token until she was done with all locals to issue the token and when she saw all were gone and done, she gave me a token as if she had no other option

Although the doc was good. To add to my dissapointments, the pharmacy guy also treated me like i was holding a gun in my hand, upon giving my receipt he made me wait alot (approx 1 hour) to issue my medicine, when i went to the counter third time and tired of waiting, i saw my coupon, so i asked pls give me thaat medicine belongs to me, he said ": priority for Qataris" and pointed out to a stickers which read the same. And after making me wait for an hour he finally issued the medicine.

This treatment was not acceptable and i felt very bad. i have been to main hamad, wakhra big hamad hospital and have visited this wakra health center many times before, i have never encountered such situation earlier and i vouch to never visit this health center ever again in my life.

- A sad and very dissapointed expat.

This is not bigger than a expatriate need exit permit.. we have to wait even to go to our home town

while its sad that this happens in hospitals too; Qatar doesn't hold a candle to Kuwait..color coded patient clothes (by nationality)..night doctors doing their rounds in a 'kuwaitis first pattern'..yup they got the discrimination thing down to an art there..

If it's any consolation exactly the same thing happens to expats using the expensive hospitals like Al Ahli. We book an appointment, arrive 20 minutes early, and then sit around for 2 hours while nationals just rock up and demand to see the doctor immediately. It's not just poor Asians at Hamad who get treated like crap.

nice plan... but let me share somethin:

the pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.

And UN and FIFA and most of the institutions/ countries who care for people want Qatar to handle expats properly. No harm in dreaming world...keep dreaming....

Do you think any of the staff at HMC will tell a Qatari to wait for 2 hours because there are ex-pats who arrived first?

People aren't treated equally in Qatar, because people aren't equal in Qatar. Qataris are more important, even in hospitals.

that's why here inside Doha they separate a health center exclusive only for local... and they designate another health center for expat to avoid those kind of treatment...

I guess theres no such rule, just a common practice orchestrated by expat attendants.
