You know it's summer in Qatar when this happens a lot
It's only April and Qatar is already on fire, literally. The temperatures during summer can go as high as 50ºC so we shouldn't be surprised if anything around you lights up and burns unexpectedly.
And you know it's summer in Qatar when fire stories dominate the front page of every local newspaper (and homepage of every website).
We have already started hearing about a few fire incidents - MOI reported containing a small fire, or smoke rather, at Al Dana Tower in West Bay.
A car burst into flames on Al Shamal highway yesterday - yeah summer is back, folks!
What other things remind you that summer is back in Qatar (apart from the scorching heat)?

This was an accident the other day, near to our office.. 3 or 4 cars involved and this car was the last one who bumped to another car.
In a car like this old corolla it's mostly the crappy maintenance and the usage of fake spare parts and mostly also wrong splicing is there as well. People tend to careless when their cars are old and usually they refer to crappy mechanics.
"Avoid full petrol car tank in peak summer." That is an Urban Myth. Tanks have pressure relief valves.
Too many Toyota's any way.
Avoid full petrol car tank in peak summer.
Okey, lets not exaggerate. The car didnt just catch fire, that was a result of an accident. The corrolla's driver crashed into another car.
If a car has burst into flames it could be due to a variety of reasons other than just the summer heat. The vehicle could have overheated for example, due to lack of water in the radiator or a malfunction of the fan while the driver did not pay attention to the rising temperature gauge and continued to drive on. True the summer heat does support fires, but many of them could be prevented from taking place by giving a little individual attention and taking some safety steps. For example, I have noticed that at many places especially in residences, people allow the exhaust fans in toilets and kitchens to run non-stop for months on end. Their belief is that the exhaust fans allow for air circulation and thus remove fumes and smell. Many are unaware that these fans run on a bearing and after a period of time, the bearing of these fans jam when it has outlived it's service life. The fan then stops working, but the power continues to flow in leading to over-heating of the motor and eventually a fire breaking out. Residents should either switch off exhaust fans when they are not needed and save on power, or they could have exhaust fans replaced periodically. A second cause of fires could be the air conditioners which do not get serviced for months on end, may be even years. It happens in accommodations shared by several people where everybody thinks "it is not my job." This not only affects the performance of these machines but also result in fires. All that is required is for each and everybody to play a responsible role and take a little safety precaution at their place of residence. Remember: Safety is something not just for job sites and for Safety people to take care of. It is also for the homes. Take safety steps at home also. It is e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e's responsibility. JUST DON'T WAIT FOR THE WORST TO HAPPEN!
Ah.. The ubiquitous Lungi ..
The following from a very good blog..
A lungi can be worn 'Full Mast' or 'Half Mast' like a national flag. A 'Full Mast' lungi is when you are showing respect to an elderly or the dead. Wearing it at full mast has lots of disadvantages.
A major disadvantage is when a dog runs after you. When you are wearing a lungi/mundu at full mast, the only known advantage seems to be for the female onlookers who are spared the ordeal of swooning at the sight of hairy legs.
Wearing a lungi 'Half Mast' is when you wear it exposing yourself like those C grade movie starlets.
A mallu can play cricket, football or zimbly run when the lungi is worn at half mast. A mallu can even climb a coconut tree wearing lungi at half mast. "It's not good manners, especially for ladies from decent families, to look up at a mallu climbing a coconut tree"-
How do you wear your Rizks ?
the other thing reminds me is lifting the lungi till the knees or sometimes above it to beat the heat ! :)
