Ronaldo, who has scored six goals himself already this season, despite missing three games through suspension, has helped take United second behind Arsenal in the Premiership - he clubs are separated only by goals scored - while contributing to their 100 per cent record in the Champions League after three group games.
He said: “I believe we’ll win the Premier League and Champions League this season.
“We have the team, we have the players and we believe we can do it. There’s a good chance we will.
“I’m at one of the best clubs in the world and I must think like that. If I was still playing for Sporting Lisbon I wouldn’t say that but I play for Manchester United and we always have the opportunities to win the big trophies every season.
“All the players feel good, feel sharp, feel quick and they are showing on the pitch their great desire to play for Manchester United.”
United have hit a remarkable 16 goals in their last four games, and on Saturday recorded their eighth straight victory with a 4-1 defeat of Middlesbrough.
The 22-year old double footballer of the year for 2006-07 added: “The last three or four games, we’ve scored many goals and it’s not just me — many players are scoring goals and this is good for our motivation. The team are more confident now. We are playing well — the last three weeks we’ve been fantastic and we need to keep it going.”
On Saturday, United visit the Emirates to take on unbeaten League leaders Arsenal. Ronaldo has been impressed with the Gunners’ excellent start to the season.
He said: “Arsenal are very strong and are playing fantastic, attractive football. They are one of the most difficult teams to play against this season and that will be a big fight, a big game for us and we will see who is the best team.
“It’s always difficult but it’s a good opportunity to see how good we are. Arsenal have started well but the season is a marathon — you need to be consistent.”
Meanwhile, United team-mate Wayne Rooney says the Gunners will see a more disciplined approach from him on Saturday.
The England striker, in a rich vein of scoring and creative form, says he is embarrassed by his own poor discipline in the past.
Just turned 22, he said: “When I look back now and see myself shouting at the referee, I think it is better to show them a bit more respect really.
“You’ve got to remember when I first starting playing first-team football I was only 16.
“Any 16-year-old playing in big games will have their emotions all over the place. You are going to be a bit short-fused.
“But with age it has got better each year.
“It’s a big week with Arsenal coming up so, hopefully, we can beat them.”
