Yet another one

My friends back home refuse to discuss this one and write it off as 'other people's affair". As for me I have not been able to jerk this off my mind . Here's the news :-

The Mumbai police have registered a case against the in-laws of the college professor, Nidhi Gupta, who jumped from the 19th floor of her house along with her two kids.

She left behind a suicide note saying she held no one responsible for her extreme step.

The parents of the woman had alleged that she might have been forced to write the suicide note.

The woman jumped off the19th floor of her Malad housing society on Tuesday. She also pushed off her two children - 7-year-old Gaurav and 3-year-old Mahika.

Any person can take such a decision under extreme desperation. Sidelining the issue of the reason for her suicide as well as the debate whether she should have/hv not killed her children , there are more issues that concern me

1. A suicide by some uneducated /jobless woman can be rationalized as lack of proper guidance or financial support. But here is a well educated woman with a job but NO OPTION !!! So what are we lacking here ? Is it a proper facility like women's hostel which may admit women with children or is it a support system or......?

2. Amazingly,in most incidences like these the girl's family is completely aware of the plight she is going through and yet they refuse to assist her in any way. And more disgusting is the fact that  posthumously they are excited to tell all the sordid details to the media about how their daughter was suffering in her married life by the husband's family . Am I wrong in thinking that they are equally responsible in pushing her toward's suicide. Does'nt it challenge their parenthood since they are the one who were supposed to protect their daughter/s.

3. While most businessman and industrialist donate money for the wedding ceremonies for poor families / orphanage , where is the money to build a proper infrastructure for harassed woman ?

4. Noticeable is the fact that till date all the suicide I have read are of hindu woman (tell me if I am wrong ). Does this mean that my sisters from other religion in India are well capable of coping up with adversities. Or is it that their plight is never highlighted.
